What would happen if we supported academic achievement the same way we support Olympic athletes?

If it is not your core competency - then minimize it, ignore it or OUTSOURCE it.

+Laura Vanderkam A really intriguing argument.  I always feel guilty having someone else mow my lawn, but it's a task I can't stand and really does free me up to do other things.

My next book, Mosaic, looks at the lives of professional women with kids. I am still collecting time logs, and would love to have more participants.

I agree that spending a year-end bonus on an experience is a lot more memorable way to reward yourself.  That is why I believe giving out cash for holiday bonuses to be less than ideal.  Employers should give cash bonuses as profit sharing or to reward top employees.  The holiday bonus should be in the form of a product or experience, or better yet how about an extra vacation day or two?  A bonus vacation day could be the best way to give employees what they value most - more free time.
