I'm working on a new careers piece on hidden interview tests with a little help from my social media friends (hopefully). If you've done any hiring in the past, then tell me: Are there any behavioral triggers that potentially sway you in favor of or against a candidate?

To get you in the mood, I'll give you one of mine: If a job candidate doesn't send a thank you note within 48 hours of his or her interview, then I'm not inclined to hire him or her.

So what are yours?

When I was an intern, I made mistake Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10.
You're at the bottom of the professional food chain, but you don't have to work that way.

You know the "wah-wah-woh-wah-wah" sound adults make when talking in Peanuts cartoons? That's about all you'll hear after your manager says you're being let go. It's almost like your ears stop working to clear way for a swath of other sensations to take hold. There are plenty emotional and physical side effects that crest the surface if you ever lose your job.
The emotional and physical – but still normal – side effects of losing your job.

Thanks for your thoughts, OnlineCEUcredit.com. You're right -- the grief over losing a job does have similarities to other types of grief. And self-pity, to a certain extent, is good to feel with the blow of losing work. I'd hope that anyone in the midst of unemployment knows that experiencing such a feeling is all right as long as they also work to rebound.

Even though the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission classifies mistreatment during the hiring process or in the workplace based on gender identity and expression as sex discrimination -- which means it's a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 -- there aren't explicit federal laws that protect transgender workers. Many who don't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth struggle to find work.

Here are a few tips to assist with their search.

Not having an exact career focus at the start of business school is normal. But by choosing to go to school you're taking the right step; jobs that require a postsecondary education should grow faster than average. Here are six professions from our #BestJobs list where receiving an #MBA could make a difference.
Having a business school degree enhances your marketability in these occupations.
