I cannot sleep.
I toss and I turn,
Thinking you’re just within reach.
I try to listen for your breathing,
The air escaping your lungs.
But all I hear is the ever ringing of silence.
I search for the heat of your body,
The tingles of your skin against mine.
But all I feel are the blankets,
Swallowing my body and not an arm to hold me.
Sleep, please do come to me.
So then I can be with my lover and they can be with me.
