Well, shit

Why is this ok?

I have to roll through this. I have to put my wheels, where my hands go, right through it. What the actual fuck?

It's horse dung, and it's spread all the way across the path in front of me. If this was dog poo it wouldn't be considered acceptable, but it's not, it's horse shit so it is?

How is this right? My theory is it's just because horses are normally owned by rich and privileged people who don't want to clear up after their animals, so have made it so they don't have to!

I see, because the privileged owners of horses don't have to worry about killing others they can't be bothered to clean up after their animals?

The vast majority of GP surgeries in the UK (99.926%) have no means to book appointments apart from by phone. So if you're deaf or hard of hearing you have very little chance of booking an appointment directly.
access to gp apoinment systems for deaf hearing impaired people. Responsible department: Department of Health. The 64000$ question is "how do deaf and hearing impaired people, especially elderly ...

I think its something that could help a lot of people because it could open up opportunities for others. I think Phil just worded what he asked wrong.

There are people working there with feelings, or at least who used to work there.

This will be why I don't catch trains.

You had better hope that whatever you're doing has a 100% fixed schedule, because otherwise you're waiting hours for the train you booked assistance on, or missing the train because something ran on longer. You have to book wheelchair assistance at least 24 hours in advance, and it has to be for a fixed time, you can't just turn up and travel.

Whilst it's not strictly true, relying on best efforts and chance isn't the same as an able-bodied person being able to just turn up and go. The last time I phoned to book assistance they told me I would have to provide a specific time for my return journey or I would risk not having assistance, it's officially not supported (so he claimed) if booked with less than 24 hours notice, though staff will often try to help anyway.

Maybe I am being too risk averse, but I would only attempt to turn up and travel if I had absolutely no other choice, and that's why I said what I did.

Just in case you had any doubt that IP laws were already too strong, too broad and too open to abuse.

I have no idea how I missed this!

It’s a medley of the Morrowind and Skyrim themes, played on piano and violin, with a few vocals thrown in

This is regarding the arrest, in New York, of the Permanent Representative of St Vincent and the Grenadines. This link comes with trigger warnings for discussion of violence, violence and police abuse and brutality.

“Officer Parker said quietly to his fellow officers, but within my earshot:
I couldn’t let him just walk into the building. Look at him: he could be a terrorist.

(Trigger Warning for Public Humiliation, De-humanisation and Ableism)

"We are absolutely horrified at the events Mr Holt has described. We welcome electric wheelchairs on our services. We are taking this matter very seriously & investigating. A senior manager has contacted Mr Holt to apologise. We can also confirm that one of our employees has been suspended while our investigation is underway.”

This was South West Trains making a response to Mr Holt regarding the story in this link. This is here, in the UK. This is the environment that's been created.
An ex-professional yachtsman with many ocean crossings under his belt, Geoff Holt was paralysed in a swimming accident in 1984. Since then, he’s committed much of his life to supporting the concept of...

[Image is of a person wearing a white lab coat with an orange hard hat and a dark brown goatee style beard, they are standing in a green field of grass. In the foreground there is a large blue pipe labelled CERN, in the background are very large high voltage power lines and some of the CERN offices. Balanced on the blue pipe is a head crab from the Half Life series of games. The aforementioned person is wielding a crowbar with their gaze focussed on the head crab.]

I hope they provide the crowbars

And you wondered why they wore hard hats.

This is what you get when you painstakingly carve away at a section of trunk, carefully checking every step of the way, to reveal the trunk and former twigs lining it. By Giuseppe Penone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuseppe_Penone). He is really rather good at it. http://milyspace.blogspot.com/2011/02/giuseppe-penone_6947.html

Introduction
I live in a house with a cat called Spenny. Oh, and a fair number of computers, many of which are obsolete and I care not about that, a reasonable chunk of fun things and assorted geekery.

Yes, I am a geek and I refuse to be ashamed of this! I am a LinuxChix.

My life has been filled with technology for as long as I can remember, and in fact longer than I remember.

One of the things I find most fulfilling about what I do, is giving people the tools to talk to one another. To be able to look at things no matter what they're doing and where they are. The connected world.

Equally one of the things I find most wonderful is to be given a task, and some resources (and people if necessary) and pointed at it, then let go.

Sometimes I can be found at conventions messing with sound and lighting and other such devices.
