You’d think in a 15 year old industry, some SEO myths would've been fully busted. Here are 75 that still linger. http://ow.ly/fCLyz

A friend of mine went in to this store and asked to try on a dress. The rep was rude and hostile, reducing her to tears, basically shooing her out of the store, all because she didn't have an appointment. Another friend called to complain and was told "Don't shop here then." Great advice, I think anyone considering shopping here should take it.

You know, every town has a few places where if you ask a dozen people "which is the best (insert type of ethnic food)", they'll consensually agree on a single destination. Huong Lan is, without a doubt, the best Vietnamese food Nanaimo has to offer. The decor is fine, but who cares? The service is touch and go, but who cares? The food is better than any other Vietnamese restaurant in town.

Penny's is a floating restaurant (in Nanaimo's inner harbour) specializing in authentic mexican cuisine. Not as good as Gina's, and a bit more expensive - but the fish tacos are quite good and you really can't beat the view. Easily among the best ocean eateries in town.

Have the Wonton, it's a huge bowl and really flavourful for around $10, seriously huge - you'd be hard pressed to finish it. The burgers are awesome, seriously. Put aside the giant burgers for a second (though I have had both the Mountain Burger and the Swiss Alps), the bun is great, good amounts of sauce and drippings, cheese, bacon, all great. Stick with the items they're famous for and you'll do alright (I haven't had anything other than a burger or the Wonton) The decor is a little eclectic, but I like it. Memorabilia all over the walls, pictures of people who've "climbed" their various mountains (including the new, bigger, K2), it's funky. Great place for casual dining.

Gina's is a standard in Nanaimo. The food, ranging from fish tacos to combo plates and a great range of authentic Mexican cuisine never disappoints. I don't eat in as often as I'd like, but their take out is just as good as the in-house meals and feeds a family for under $40. The service is amazing, I've never had a bad (or even unfortunate) experience. No matter how busy it gets, servers are always fast and pleasant. If I'm ever asked to recommend a place for out-of-towners, Gina's is always the first place to come to mind.
