Heartbroken and terrified of what's to come. Scotland has confirmed its position as a economic slave to its southern neighbour.

Just cast my vote in the Scottish Independence Referendum. For the first time in my life I had to queue at a polling station. Irrespective of the result it's great to see so many people actively engaged in the debate and turning out to vote. Admittedly there have been numpties on both sides but on the whole I've only witnessed good natured discussion. Let's hope the civility continues as we move forward with whatever decision is reached.

I've had a bad opinion of that woman since she first appeared on our screens in The Apprentice.

The phone on the article is ideal for a caption competition

I have a confession. I like social games like CityVille, FarmVille and so on. I know that they are a complete timesink but sometimes a timesink is what you need. The trouble with a lot of these games is that you cannot progress very far without annoying all your friends and contacts by spamming them with invitations to join the game. I don't like doing that as in the first place I don't like being spammed and secondly if someone doesn't want to play the same games you do the invite is wasted.

One of the games on Google+, Edgeworld, gets around this by having it's own little world. On screen there is the main game play window and just below this is an irc chat room. All the contacts you make are internal to the game so there is no need to send out invitations. Zynga, the company behind CityVille, have altered one of their games on FaceBook to allow adding other players who are not FB friends as 'neighbours' in the game. The implementation is a little problematic at the moment but if the bugs are ironed out is a step in the right direction. Zynga already have CityVille in the Google+ games list so I expect it's only a matter of time before their other games turn up as well.

In the meantime, I'm playing Zombie Lane and CityVille if anyone wants to join me.

UPDATE 19:12

Since I originally posted this I have noticed that Zynga have been a little bit devious with their implementation of CityVille for Google+. On Facebook you have to select thenames of the friends that you want to send invitations to, however in the Google+ version this is an opt out list. It you click on the person you want to sent the invitation to they will not get the invite. All your other contacts will though.

I was only a little bit worried when Google+ added games. However I have now found the civilization clone and it's a a real time sink. Planned to play for 10 mins and suddenly the afternoon has gone. Curse you Google!

The front runner in the Scottish Conservative Party leadership contest has stated that the party should split from it English counterpart and form a new center of right party for Scotland in order to appeal to voters at the next election. Murdo Fraser is quoted as saying that the Conservatives have too much baggage to be electable in Scotland. I agree that the Scottish Conservatives are unelectable (and this can be seen in their poor results since 1965) but I think that Mr Fraser is being optimistic if he thinks a change of name and a few press statements saying "we aren't like that lot down south" is going to have a major effect of the pattern of voting in Scotland, it doesn't matter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd!

The tram fiasco goes from bad to worse. At first I thought that this was just a case of incompetence on the part of our elected officials but as this goes on I am becoming more and more convinced that there has been some kind corruption going on at the highest levels and it is time that there was a serious criminal investigation. At the very least people who have been part of the decision making process should lose their jobs and hopefully a few of them should eventually end up in prison.

Anyway discussing this whole debacle in the pub last night someone mentioned this video, which brilliantly describes the frustrations of Edinburgh citizens
