I absolutely agree that vaccines are wonderful and I'm glad that they're available and have drastically reduced the prevalence of smallpox, polio, rubella, etc.
I honestly think that more and more people will make the decision to get vaccinate / get their kids vaccinated as vaccine-preventable diseases resurface in our population. I see the government's role as spreading accurate and understandable information and in making vaccines easily available. I don't want to live in a world where the government mandates what vaccines my kids get and when, especially if that starts extending to other health decisions, like women being forced to have c-sections (http://rhrealitycheck.org/article/2014/07/25/florida-hospital-demands-woman-undergo-forced-c-section/
) or circumcision becoming required for baby boys because it decreases the risk of STD transmission.
