When I was 12 or 13 years old spotting KEN CURTIS-"FESTUS" of GUNSMOKE at the upstairs restaurant of the OLD ATLANTA HARTSFIELD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, too afraid to ask him for his autograph delegated task to younger sister & young male 1st cousin. Going to see "JERRY LEE LEWIS" & 3 piece band [with my daddy] when I was 10 years old in 1963 as they performed on a flat bed truck in the middle of LUTHER WILLIAMS BALL PARK, home of PETE ROSE & the "MACON PEACHES", later the "MACON BRAVES". Meeting & getting the autograph of the great LEGENDARY JAZZ GUITARIST - "JOE PASS" @ GIT in HOLLYWOOD [ELLA FITZGERALD'S favorite]. Spending a year at school with the great, LEGENDARY JAZZ GUITARIST - GIT CURRICULUM AUTHOR, "HOWARD ROBERTS" [THEME SONG from the TWILIGHT ZONE, one of many studio credits. Voted best blues guitarist @ GIT given the honor of playing on the TOMMY TEDESCO UNITED WESTERN STUDIO DATE on SUNSET BOULEVARD, HOLLYWOOD, TOMMY TEDESCO, the most credited, highest paid, movie-television studio session guitarist in HOLLYWOOD HISTORY, also a third owner of GIT [with HOWARD ROBERTS & PAT HICKS-FALCULTY ADMINISTRATOR & PRESIDENT of SUNN ELECTRONICS AMPLIFIER COMPANY]. Earliest MEMORY, being 4 years old in1957 at the GRAND OLE OPRY, & watching my father while I begged to go along to no avail, walk down the middle isle to the front of the stage with my Uncle BILL HITE, VICE-PRESIDENT of the COMMERCE BANK of NASHVILLE, the BANKER for many GRAND OLE OPRY STARS, take my father around to the backstage door, knock, & were greeted by the country star, GEORGE MORGAN [LORI MORGAN'S FATHER], who took them back to meet & chat, for about a half an hour with 2 other legionary stars, FERLIN HUSKEY & WEBB PIERCE. It made my daddy's day that night. Last memory, going to a night game at YANKEE STADIUM AT 12 YEARS OLD in 1966, sitting right behind YANKEE DUGOUT-FIELD LEVEL, watching 9innings of YOGGI BERRA, JOE PEPITONE, CLETE BOYER, ELSTOM HOWARD, ROGER MARIS, BOBBY RICHARDSON, WHITEY FORD, & my hero, "MICKEY MANTLE", the MICK. Getting beat by the BOSTON RED SOX by 3 & 4 runs most of the game going to the last batter up losing 5-2 in the bottom o the 9th, bases loaded, MICKEY MANTLE hobble up with his bad legs & knees to the plate to bat left-handed [had about 300 home runs as a lefty & the same batting right-handed]. The count gets wound down to the last pitch of the game, 3 balls & 2 strikes, & MICKEY its a grand slam to RIGHT-FIELD clean out & over the stadium to win the game, 6 to 4. It probably landed 3 or 4 blocks into HARLEM as many of his grand slams did [so did BABE RUTH'S]. What a memory .
