Awesome.

As a cofounder of Google, Sergey Brin has already done lots of very good things for the world on a macro scale.

He's given us a great technology that makes the Internet usable, created a company that provides jobs for tens of thousands of people, and donated millions to various charities. He's investing in genetic cures for diseases and space exploration, too.

With it, Brin is buying up downtown property in the small Silicon Valley town he lives in, and is renting it out at below market rates to stores he thinks families in the community need: a children's bookstore, a children's playspace, and a child-friendly coffee shop.

"When government power is used to punish speech, and speech alone, as is the case here, there are grave First Amendment concerns. It is wrong when zoning is used to regulate adult bookstores and wrong when zoning is used to deny permits, solely because an owner has wrong-headed and stupid opinions.

Chick-fil-A owner Don Cathy may deny me equality of rights, but I cannot lower myself to his level and deny him equality of rights. He has the right to ignorant opinions, and the right to run restaurants.

What he doesn't have a right to, is customers or profits. It is appropriate to deny both through a boycott." -- James Peron

They hurt no one, unless they are a 50 lb alligator snapping turtle, but I still don't think people should try to run them over...

Please Share To Help Save Lives!

Did you know that there are drivers out there that swerve intentionally to hit turtles and snakes? Some of the species that are injured/killed are even endangered species.

If you see a turtle in the road and want to help him across, always take him to the side where he or she is headed.

Always make certain of your own safety and the safety of your children if you stop your vehicle and get out to help a turtle.

On July 3rd, I had a tech out to try to clear two drains and to install an expansion tank on my water heater. The tech could not clear the basement drain and he said that someone from the office would be calling me to schedule a video drain inspection. This appointment seemed to go well. When no one called me, I called to schedule the video drain inspection for myself for August 1st. A woman called on July 31st to confirm this appointment twice. Once to say it was in the morning and again, to say that it was actually in the afternoon. On August 1st, a tech showed up without calling before to install an expansion tank, which was already done on July 3rd. Several calls and hours later, another tech showed up to do the video drain inspection. The tech could not see anything because there was water in the drains so he said that the floor would need to be dug up. He got a quote from the front office, but said someone would call to confirm, if Tuesday, August 5th worked to dig out my floor. I mentioned to him that no one when scheduling the video drain inspection mentioned that if there was water in the pipe, nothing could be seen. Had someone mentioned this, I would have avoid using my kitchen and laundry for a day, which should have been enough to clear the water. I did not confirm that I wanted my floor dug up on the following Tuesday with anyone. I missed a call from CroppMetcalfe on Friday evening (August 1st) and in that message, the woman said to call and confirm IF Tuesday, August 5th worked for me. On Tuesday, August 5th - techs showed up at my house in the morning. No one called me on Monday, August 4th to confirm that I wanted to schedule Tuesday, August 5th. I told the techs that I did NOT confirm this appointment and called CroppMetcalfe. I spoke with I believe a Lisa. She apologized for the confusion and said that a manager would reach out to me. It is now August 14th and no one has reached out to me. The worse part is I signed up for CroppMetcalfe's Plumbing Service Agreement and now I will not use it since I cannot trust them to respect my time and the service that will be provided.
