I am a qualified NCTJ journalist who is passionate about media, content creation, research, forging relationships and interviewing. I have a portfolio of published work on a number of media platforms, including:
During my MA in Journalism I wrote news and features for the ‘Sports Gazette’, ‘The London Economic’ and ‘South West Londoner’. The features were about football, politics, business in sport, seasonal specials, diversity, Formula-E and stories about cricket which also included an interview with ex-England cricketer, Ryan Sidebottom. I sourced all of this myself after establishing relationships with PR agencies, social media users and other journalists.
My story about 30 years since the Heysel Stadium disaster finished second place among the most read stories on the ‘Sports Gazette’ website for 2014-2015, with 20,000 unique views: http://www.sportsgazette.co.uk/section.php?aid=1436&sid=3.
One of my other best stories involved numerous quotes from politicians, the local council and professional bodies: http://thelondoneconomic.com/sport/electricity-air-formula-e-battersea-park-dispute/16/01.
I have over 10 years online journalism experience. I have shown a great commitment to journalism through my former football website, ‘The Box – TNG’ (2001 - 2013) for which I wrote approximately 1,500 articles and edited 500 others, as well as authoring new content ideas and covering two UEFA Cup matches. I wrote a wide variety of articles including: match previews, match reports, opinion columns, round-ups of user generated content, interviews, live event coverage, breaking news and features. At ‘The Box – TNG’ creative ideas were at a premium. At its peak the website attracted 1,100 daily unique visitors and featured on national television. I was also interviewed on the radio and by the press.
In 2014-2015 was hired for three paid commercial copywriting tasks, all of which completed to satisfaction.
I spent 2013-2014 studying for MSc Business Innovation at Birkbeck, University of London, time at which I also worked at three consecutive part-time jobs, including marketing and promoting the City Coaching Academy on Facebook and Twitter, as well as conducting keyword research and writing blog posts. I also wrote blog posts about financial products for a small London-based loan provider.
During my MA degree I produced a five-minute radio package about hot topics in sports business.
3. Video and documentary film
I produced and directed a 15-minute sport documentary film called ‘Try As They Might - The Untold Story of Israeli Rugby’. It is available from: https://www.facebook.com/TryAsTheyMight/info?tab=overview.
I also produced a three-minute video feature about concerns regarding the legacy of the 2015 Rugby World Cup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkWa4iSGQRw.
I have a B2B experience from working closely with clients in the travel/hospitality sector while being a second line support engineer for Web Applications UK Ltd.
As part of my MSc in Business Innovation with E-Business from Birkbeck, University of London I studied business strategy, innovation policy and governance and my final project examined the Impact of organisational structure and culture on the likelihood of successful implementation of ideas in organisations.
