The UK government is trying to look into issuing a new long term bond with the expectation that the UK interest payments will be lessened for years to come. At the moment, the UK government is issuing bonds which are a form of IOU. This then disburses interest prior to being reimbursed after a period of time. A long dated bond usually provides the government about thirty years to pay back fully. http://www.financetalks.co.uk/uk-treasury-looking-into-long-term-bonds-8043/
