It's difficult to discern who deserves credit for this wise quote, but I love it:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

The O'Neil Coldwater Classic started today; you can watch it live
http://www.oneill.com/cwc/

I surfed at Cowell instead of watching the pros - though I could kind of see them from the outside.

I went to Cowell's this evening (instead of watching the Coldwater Classic - I'd rather surf!), and the tide was dropping and the surf was improving.  There were lots of nice 2-3 foot waves (little inconsistent, but not too bad) and only 13 people in the water - I counted 'em!  Only 13 people!

Plenty of little waves and opportunities for long rides.  Most waves were a little soft, but fun, and a few developed a nice shape, fast and kinda concave / hollow.  I'm still grinning, hours later :-D

Anybody going to see "Chasing Mavericks"?

I just starting reading (listening to an audiobook actually) "In Search of Captain Zero" and I love it - great storytelling and great perspectives about surfing.
