Geeks/hams/astrophotographers: I can use 'predict' to track satellites using an Az/El rotator. What will provide similar functionality for other celestial bodies? Cellestia and Stellarium both simulate the night sky but neither seem to have any form of usable API for extracting az/el data. Alternatively is there such a thing as an INDI to GS-232 converter?

Finally some time out on the bike.  Reynauds syndrome spoils my fun during the colder months although I'm currently researching heated gloves in a desperate attempt to solve this.  This photo taken today at Barbury Castle, Wiltshire, England.

+Steve Johnson You're right!  Many replace them with smaller (theoretically illegal) plates - I may well do the same as these are just ugly :(

Thanks for all the recent adds. However, if you add me please add your interests to your profile so I know which circle to add you to. I'm generally very active commenting on others posts but rarely post myself. Posts I do make are typically public and range from photography, to beer, to music or geeky (amateur radio, Linux. Amiga) hobbies. You have been warned ;)

Mostly from photography, geek and amateur radio circles i'm active in. And people say G+ is quiet...

Argh... just when I was happily lusting after a Triumph Street Triple R, I see this at George Whites... looks fantastic in matt black and red, black pipes etc - much better in the flesh than in photos too.

Despite my best attempts to not spend more money on photography gear, I appear to have just bought a Pentax 55-300mm DA. Hence, I'll likely be selling my DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR, boxed, little use (~2 months old?), immaculate. Thought I'd mention it here before listing on the Pentax User classifieds. Apologies to those not interested ... perhaps I should set up a photography circle :s

Dario: I've got some great shots out of it, but I do find when I need the long end of 50-200, I could really do with a little 'extra' - although I suspect this is a likely case with any zoom. However the 55-300 looks only slightly larger than the 50-200 so I figure size vs flexibility = a worthwhile upgrade :)

I've just realised I've met some great people here and often comment on others posts, yet never post myself. None of my status updates feel worthy of Google+ so inevitably end up on Facebook. I guess this says more about me than it does G+!

Maybe ... or on Facebook I'm happy to post inane drivel whereas on G+ I feel the need to engage the brain before posting - but yes, you could also be right ;)

So, Pentax users forever complaining about the lack of a full frame body. Now Sony release a mirrorless full frame body with optional K mount adapter. Bizarre.

All they had to do was eat muffins and they too could have had a full fat body like mine!

Yes, it's that time of year ... plus I've made vague promises to keep in touch with +Marc Williams and Iain Young. However, rookie mistake of the day: connect very expensive radio (FT847) up with reversed polarity (the black/red stripe cable was twisted in such a way the black stripe wasn't visible - and I connected the red wire up without thinking). The magic smoke escaped. Luckily one popped capacitor and a blown fuse and I'm otherwise a very lucky bunny. They no longer make spares for this radio. Also, with a low height colinear I realise Swindon town centre is an RF shithole. Still, the FT847 is good for working the satellites :)

Sorry to bump an old post but I used to have an ft847 and still wish I had it. Change of address meant I couldn't use VHF DX antennas anymore and it was before the license change opening up HF. :(

Question: Some time ago I selected 'use Picasa for G+ photos', which is great BUT I've already used 76% of my 1GB free space. As much as I love G+, limited photo storage is going to be a pain. What do other photographer types do?
