Our wedding was November 1. We booked the lawn outside of Merriman's Maui for the wedding and then, on the high recommendation of our hotel, the Ritz, and our planners, we booked dinner reservations there afterwards. We left the wedding venue and came back for dinner. We were still dressed in my suit and my wife in her wedding dress when we got back to the restaurant. We had to wait 10 minutes for our table. When we were finally seated, our server was very rude. I travel the world for my job, and have never had a server worse than this guy. After letting us know the specials which were barely audible, he asked for our drink orders. I ordered mine, and when my wife was not sure, he just walked away. I finally flagged him down and ordered my wife a glass of wine. We were unsure about our food order, so he just rudely threw the menu on the table and walked away from the table again. This is our wedding night dinner, I had just spent $500 on the venue for the wedding, $200 to have them keep our wedding cake in their kitchen, and now we were planning on spending around $300 on dinner and this is the service we started out with. It did not get any better from there. After our guest and I ordered our meals, my wife was still unsure about hers and had some questions about the menu. Our server must not have had the time to wait, because, once again, he walked away. He did spend a lot of time with the customers at the window/glass. Did they pay more than I, were they more important? Evidently he thought so. My wife didn't even have a chance to order her main course when our guest and I's food arrived. At this point my wife was in tears. We did not make a scene, but this was supposed to be one of the happiest times in her life and she was not getting to eat, no return for further drink orders, and the absolute worst service I have ever had. We asked for the manager, to let him know of the service. He gave us lip service at best with a bunch of I am sorry's, but at no time did I feel like he really cared about us as customers nor did do anything about the service. If you do go to Merriman's and get a tall dark haired server with a small mustache, turn around and walk out. The food was mediocre at best. The service was absolutely horrible. The next night we went to Lahaina Grill, and for the same price, got great food and excellent service. They even took a picture of us and emailed it to us.

Tres chic, a bit expensive, lots of Beautiful people. Unfortunately, the mushroom soup is not always on menu. Ate late at friendly fast bar. Liked the Belgian dark ale and the stunning Cameron 'dish'!

I wish I could give this establishment more than 5 stars. My wife and I went to Maui for our honeymoon and we decided that due to our limited budget, we would choose one night to pretend that money was no issue. The concierge at our hotel recommended Merriman's and made us a reservation. When we arrived we were treated with the utmost respect and care. Our server was fantastic and was barely noticeable if you weren't paying attention. My wife had the scallops and they were so big and rich that she couldn't finish them. I had a seafood pasta dish that was phenomenal. It is pressed up right against the beach and our late night reservation allowed the sea breeze to flow in perfectly. The ambiance was incredible. The way the restaurant is laid out makes it so you can have an intimate experience and not be overturned by loud crowds or music. I hadn't worn a suit in over a year, but we brought our best so I decided to order "The Vesper." The bartender smiled and immediately knew what I wanted and said "When you look like 007, you should drink like 007." We ended up spending significantly less than I had anticipated. For everything, this restaurant is worth every dollar. I'll never forget this place, and I will recommend it to anyone.

The food and location are wonderful here. However our experience with the management has been extremely unethical. This restaurant will say or do anything in order to gain you as a client and they tend to be unsupportive within the community. It is for this reason that we prefer to work with more worthy establishments nearby.

We had the chiefs special (amber jack fish) that was outstanding. Best fish dinner I've had yet while on vacation. The mushroom soup was very good as well as the desserts. Service by Donovan & Natalie were the best. Great job! Overall very impressed and would go back again.

If you are under the age of 40 and want terrible service then eat here. We made reservation two weeks in advance for our honeymoon with request for a sunset table. Instead we got seated in the far back with bugs on table and menu while others got seated in front of us that blocked our view. We left disappointed without eating and felt out of place. The manager had no explanation.
