UPDATE, Well, my 14.04 updates ALL barfed (hanging real bad, no internet access with wired connection, etc). How does one address this? It's Ubuntu folks, load 12.04 LTS and BAM !!, running like a champ again!

Busy day in the office today. My laptops are (were) no longer cooperating, running pokey and hanging up (they were still on 10.04 LTS). Time for a shiny new operating system on all of my laptops, then time to upgrade my master server. Yeah, doing this has all of the appeal of watching paint dry, but at least I'm in the A/C near my tea supply.

+Clarkson Fisher III I thought about doing that, but it only takes discovering one new application to need a new iso or post install script all over again. I just keep it simple. :)

Astounding Eating Feat

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is an Amarillo tourist attraction that advertises on highway billboards around USA for a free 72 oz steak dinner if you can eat it all in an hour.  Many try, few succeed, but it is possible.  A very few people have even eaten two of them in an hour - most of those were huge professional athletes.  Yesterday, a small competitive eating champion 125 lb lady ate two of them in 15 minutes - eating the first one in 5 minutes and the second one in 10 more!  That is 9 lbs (4kg) of steak, 2 lbs (1kg) of potatoes, shrimp cocktails, salads, and dinner rolls, setting a new worlds record.  She plans to eat three in an hour sometime in the future.  Wow!

Before you ask - the meal (one) costs $72 if you fail the challenge:

On Monday, Molly Schuyler ate two 72-ounce steak meals at The Big Texan Steak Ranch. In less than 15 minutes. After breakfast. "We witnessed history," Big Texan co-owner Danny Lee said. | VIDEO |

Question for users of Firefox. Am I the only one that HATES the new layout of this? It's a challenge to "bookmark" important pages anymore, my "preferred" bookmarks toolbar is now hidden away, accessing my bookmarks folder has become a challenge. The new Firefox just outright sucks!!

Afternoon all. I have one to share this weekend. I'm spending part of my weekend puffing Drip's "Mojito Mix", a nice light blend of lime with a noticeable touch of mint. Mojitos are a favorite of mine, and this is actually pretty close to a good mojito. Flavor only sticks around for a few minutes, so you'll be at this quite a bit to keep the flavor going, but it's not bad. (so everyone knows, I vape "virgin" (no nic) so my experience may be different than yours. ) Vape on, vape healthy, vape happy!, that'll be all.

After many faithful years of service, I FINALLY had to retire my 10.04 LTS and 10.04 Netbook Remix installs. I'm now doing fresh installs from a flash drive onto my portables and I have to know something. It is taking FOREVER to knock out these installs (several hours on DSL). Is this now a norm? In the past, I could bust out an install and do all of the "missed" updates in around 1.5 to 2.0 hours MAX. Is this new install time now normal for a fresh install??

30 minutes is to much time. IMO, I prefer instalation without upgrades. Then, once installed, I upgrade while personalizing and configuring my new system. That is a better more efficient way to install.

This is pretty funny, especially when you consider that Mickey Ds has been catching some hell for some of their practices for a few years now.

Everything is recycled

Humorous .gif with a point - everything gets recycled for the most part.  What is left out is that the waste from the restroom goes to a sewage treatment center, the sludge from the STC goes to farmers as fertilizer for crops (or is dumped into the environment to same ultimate effect), the crops are fed to cows, and the cows are ground up to become meat patties.  It's all good.

Business owner and all around tech nerd
Introduction
Currently married for nearly 30 years, with a whole herd of kids and grandkids. I have lived in Redlands, Ca for several years, relaxing and enjoying it's Mayberry-like atmosphere. In my off time, you're likely to find me spending time with the family, working on the restoration of my 1890s craftsman home, haunting one of the many local coffee shops, or, sneaking in some reading or writing.
As to my business, I've been a computer nerd for a bunch of years. This has translated into a business that involves building custom computers, following tech trends, training, and consulting.

This place is very nice, with very good products and super service. A nice thing is their daily selection of both coffees AND teas. Baked goods are normally quite good, but some are seasonal ( I love their cheddar chive scones, but these are a winter only offering ). And as one other reviewer noted, their coffee is easier on the stomach.

CLOSED AS OF AUGUST 2012. This is just being added as an update. The Humidor is now closed, and has been for quite a while. It had transferred to another owner, and operated under the new name "Nicks Cigar Nest", but this too is now closed. ( Closed as of August 2012) Too bad, because the Humidor was a very nice place to do business, but owners had to move on.

First, let it be known this shop is now closed (as of late June, 2012). It's sad, but not surprising. While the selection was decent, and prices not bad (for a small shop), it's biggest issue (HUGE, actually) was inconsistency in operating hours. I can't count the number of times I went to the store to pick up a few sticks for my golf weekends, only to find the store closed. In a tough economy, and with the anti-smoking groupies, you'd figure you'd do everything in your power to keep a business of this sort operating, but I guess it just wasn't important enough to keep the owner interested. Shame, really.

This place is great. It's not what one would consider "dine-in" though. (it's more of a take-out type place). Food is served in good sized portions, but for those with a real appetite, you have the option of going EXTRA LARGE on those burritos. Service is relatively fast, even during rush hours. Some bark about prices, but prices are very reasonable when compared to "big box" mexican places. My family and I have been loyal customers for over 25 years for a reason, YUMMY FOOD! When you have the chance, try the garbage burrito, or chile relleno burrito. You won't be disappointed.
