Going crazy waiting for the Win10 release for my 640XL. Anyone have the final release (not a developer version) on their device yet? If so, what's it like and how does it compare with 8.1?

OY, I had my M/S 640XL phone "barf" and just stop working (completely). While very aggravating, it was fixable (though it took a couple of hours at my computer). This is another reason that I recommend the Windows phones over Android. Windows phone "barfs", the user can fix it at home for free. Android phone "barfs", user will normally have to send it out for repairs. WHOO-HOO!

For users of Firefox, this article provides some helpful information on some of the tweaks that you can make to the browser to tailor it to your specific needs.

Firefox has tons of useful add-ons that can make your browsing safer, use less bandwidth, grab screenshots....you name it, there's probably an add-on for it. If you're not familiar with Firefox or you use Firefox but aren't sure how to use add-ons, this great step-by-step article tells you how to find, install and manage add-ons. Installing add-ons (also known as extensions) is fast and easy once you know how.

Microsoft EDGE works quite well (tested with Windows 10). For those that aren't quite sure though, Firefox and Chrome are great alternatives, with Opera being a fair choice also.

As of January 16, 2016, Microsoft will only be supporting the "current version" of Internet Explorer.  Which is currently 11. So if you're still running version 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, under any version of Windows, you're about to fall into the category of people who are still running unsupported software.
Which means that no new security patches will be released or developed.  And this could leave you open to malware and other threats to your privacy.
So if you're still running Internet Explorer, and you're not using version 11, you need to switch.  Either to IE11, or to an alternative such as Edge, Chrome or Firefox.

Before anyone would question the validity of the "For Dummies", these are books that I frequently  recommend to my clients. Written by "real people" for "real people", they are normally easy to use, are broken down into small chunks, and are relatively inexpensive, when compared to traditional text book type guides. You can browse some of their titles at http://www.dummies.com/store.html

The elixer of life and a welcome way to start the day in my part of the world this morning. Winter has materialized in my area with cold temperatures (47 f, 8.3 c), raging rain, and even an earthquake this morning at 06:40.

Plan to do this now! Devices fail without warning, leaving you with loss of important files and data. There are numerous options for cloud storage and backup to keep your important data safe, and accessible.

Whatever your opinion on cloud computing (and mine's far from favourable), it certainly does have its uses. Cloud storage allows you to set up your PC so that all your important files are continually backed up to a remote system so you don't have to worry about remembering to make regular backups of your PC. Have a look at our Hot Finds editor's top pick to easily backup your data, keeping it safe offsite.

Introduction
Currently married for nearly 30 years, with a whole herd of kids and grandkids. I have lived in Redlands, Ca for several years, relaxing and enjoying it's Mayberry-like atmosphere. In my off time, you're likely to find me spending time with the family, working on the restoration of my 1890s craftsman home, haunting one of the many local coffee shops, or, sneaking in some reading or writing.
As to my business, I've been a computer nerd for a bunch of years. This has translated into a business that involves building custom computers, following tech trends, training, and consulting.

This place is very nice, with very good products and super service. A nice thing is their daily selection of both coffees AND teas. Baked goods are normally quite good, but some are seasonal ( I love their cheddar chive scones, but these are a winter only offering ). And as one other reviewer noted, their coffee is easier on the stomach.

CLOSED AS OF AUGUST 2012. This is just being added as an update. The Humidor is now closed, and has been for quite a while. It had transferred to another owner, and operated under the new name "Nicks Cigar Nest", but this too is now closed. ( Closed as of August 2012) Too bad, because the Humidor was a very nice place to do business, but owners had to move on.

First, let it be known this shop is now closed (as of late June, 2012). It's sad, but not surprising. While the selection was decent, and prices not bad (for a small shop), it's biggest issue (HUGE, actually) was inconsistency in operating hours. I can't count the number of times I went to the store to pick up a few sticks for my golf weekends, only to find the store closed. In a tough economy, and with the anti-smoking groupies, you'd figure you'd do everything in your power to keep a business of this sort operating, but I guess it just wasn't important enough to keep the owner interested. Shame, really.

This place is great. It's not what one would consider "dine-in" though. (it's more of a take-out type place). Food is served in good sized portions, but for those with a real appetite, you have the option of going EXTRA LARGE on those burritos. Service is relatively fast, even during rush hours. Some bark about prices, but prices are very reasonable when compared to "big box" mexican places. My family and I have been loyal customers for over 25 years for a reason, YUMMY FOOD! When you have the chance, try the garbage burrito, or chile relleno burrito. You won't be disappointed.
