REMINDER - Tomorrow, Feb 28th, is Rare Disease Day!

After eight successful and consecutive years, the Rare Disease Day 2015 theme 'Living with a Rare Disease' pays tribute to the millions and millions of parents, siblings, grandparents, spouses, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose daily lives are impacted and who are living "day-by-day, hand-in-hand" with rare disease patients.

"According to the office of the chief medical examiner of New York City, which conducted an autopsy, Mr. Carr died of complications of metastatic small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung."

ARTICLE - ATRX mutation possible biomarker for rare neuroendocrine tumors

CNETS is a volunteer driven organization with one staff support as the Project Manager. CNETS Canada is currently looking to hire a part time Administrative Support Contract Position.

Scope: Reporting to the Project Manager, the primary duties of the Administrative Support person are general organizational support through maintaining and distributing CNETS Canada materials and sale merchandise, assisting with implementation of CNETS Canada events, coordinating with printers and graphic artists and providing limited written communications.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Nova Scotia musician, Fleur Mainville, at the age of 37 due to NET cancer.

Fleur was a great friend in our NET community and lent her wonderful musical skills to us at our Halifax conference in 2011. She will be missed by all.

ARTICLE - Lanreotide Improves PFS in Pancreatic NET Subgroup

"Lanreotide (Somatuline Depot) improved progression-free survival and resulted in more disease control compared with an observation strategy among patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) in a planned subgroup analysis of the CLARINET trial, which led to the FDA’s recent approval of the agent.

On December 16, 2014, the FDA approved lanreotide to improve progression-free survival in patients with unresectable, well- or moderately differentiated, locally advanced or metastatic GEP-NETs."
