I can remember back in the day, when I was a little less married...meandering through the streets of Manhattan trying to find my way home after a long night and coming across something like this. When I woke up the next day I thought I had a dream that I was at a concert in a subway...

+TotalBiscuit, The Cynical Brit  is a very popular video game reviewer on YouTube. With over 1.25 million subscribers, he is highly respected within the game development community. This weekend, one of his reviews was removed under a fake DMCA copyright violation claim made by a game publisher who didn't agree with his review of their product. YouTube has come under fire in the past for making fake claims very easy while providing very little recourse to content developers that have a legal right to make their videos. Hopefully, given TotalBiscuit's popularity, this will bring the larger scope of the issue to Google's attention and they will finally do something about it. Otherwise, Google will continue to be played for a fool by unscrupulous publishers who seek to censor criticism of their works.

It's been a long time since I've been to a Barnes & Noble. Standing in their business section, looking for a book on sales analytics. It really hurts your credibility as a bookseller when literally half of your selection is from the "____ For Dummies" series.

Our long national nightmare is finally over. Google Maps for iOS has been released. How will I get lost in the Australian desert now? http://lifehacker.com/5968068/google-maps-is-now-available-for-ios-devices

Well, here we go again. Add LG Electronics to the names of companies that you cannot trust in your home. Seems that their "Smart" TVs have just been caught sending data on what you watch, when you change channels, and the names of files on an external drive (e.g. USB drives) back to their home servers. This is an obvious violation of privacy. As more appliances move to the Internet, we're going to see this more and more. Article here: http://doctorbeet.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/lg-smart-tvs-logging-usb-filenames-and.html
Earlier this month I discovered that my new LG Smart TV was displaying ads on the Smart landing screen. After some investigation, I found a rather creepy corporate video advertising their data collection practices to potent...

Got tired of having Bing and Yahoo search pop up any time I typed a non-existent directory into Windows Explorer. So, naturally, I "fixed" it. And now, you can too! Read more at PhishFrye.com
Neat Chrome Trick. I bring these sort of problems upon myself, I know, but I'm one of those people that typically have 30 tabs open in their web browser. I used to be a die hard Firefox user – mostly because of the phenomenal tools and plug-ins available for software developers (like me).

"The weather forecast is a State secret". Chilling. The BBC has a new radio play premiering that's based on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album. Their trailer for it would make Storm Thorgerson proud. BBC Radio 2 Darkside, Darkside Teaser trailer

I wonder how many people have tried to throw themselves down at the ground in hopes of missing. Happy Birthday, Douglas Adams!

Thanks to matching grants, your contribution to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) will be tripled if you make a donation by this weekend. The EFF works tirelessly to defend your right to privacy and to ensure that the Internet remains a free and open means of communication. There's a lot more to their advocacy work and they are very deserving of your attention. Even if you won't consider supporting them, you will definitely benefit from learning about them. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/12/power-up-your-donation

I eat here almost once a week or so. The food is consistently good, the place is clean, and the owners are always very friendly.

BAIT AND SWITCH! I was disappointed to learn that Burlington VW is practicing bait and switch tactics in their service department. Using their website, I scheduled an interval service for my EOS. The system quoted me a price of $155. When I get there, I'm told that the service will cost over $350! They claim that the price on their website was an error and refused to budge on it. I spoke with their service manager, Ed Ortiz about this. In the past, I have had good experiences with Ed. Today, however, he refused to honor the quoted price, saying that Mike Maccarr, the dealership's director of operations, refused to fix the problem. Because of Burlington's deceptive practices, I will not be bringing my car back there. My EOS is 5 years old and I had been planning on replacing it this Fall. I will still be buying a new one but I will not be buying it from Burlington. Their dishonesty and lack of ethics has cost them a customer.
