All the realtors and mortgage agents we worked with in the house-buying process are on Google+ - what does that say about this network? (I'm not sure, exactly)

Probably means they're desperate for clients :).

It's hot. But 65 degrees in my office? Really? Per VP's recent email about conserving energy, they could start by turning up the acceptable temperature in GH!

You'd like it up on the 28th then. It's stuffy up here.

Story
Introduction
Hiya!

Right now, I'm part of the Language and Culture Learning Center. I help language instructors learn about incorporating technology in their language and culture classes. Take courses out of the workbook-and-essay paradigm. Give students a chance to see how this "foreign" language can be used for actual communication in real life!

Blogs, wikis, Skype, video projects, interview podcasts: there is something to enhance the learning goals of any particular course. I help instructors identify, learn about, and successfully adopt technology that will allow their students more - and more authentic - listening, speaking, and writing opportunities.

I'm a Chicagoan. I wish I could put more dots on that map to the right! My travel has been focused on Mexico, but I've been to Europe and Asia too. I hope to go to the middle east next.

Fantastic. I called before 8, and a knowledgeable and friendly woman took my call, gave me advice, and promised someone would call back before 1:30. The kitchen drain into the basement floor needed to be rodded out in our 2-flat, and we have no clean-out in the line. I guess since it was a straight-forward job, the plumber came right away instead and the whole thing was done before 9, for $115. It took some perseverence and a good 10+ minutes of drilling away at the clog, but he did it! Just wonderful service!!

I called yesterday (11/11/2014) and got a prompt call back with advice about possible cost, and an offer to come out the next day. I accepted the offer, but then was talking to so many plumbers, I couldn't keep track of who had agreed to come. I called back today, and he had me confused with someone else I guess, and said they couldn't come out till Monday. We had a long chat where he gave me advice about likely costs for the service (rodding out kitchen drain of a 2-flat via the catchbasin, installing a clean-out on the drain line, etc.) and recommendations of other local plumbers to call. It turns out that they did already have me on the schedule for today, per the conversation from the day before, but in the meantime I'd already had a recommended local guy come out and do it. I wasn't home for any of this, so I have to call tomorrow to apologize. They seem like great guys though, very accurate advice and prompt service - confusion was all my own doing really.
