Laphroaig uses bourbon casks. They get them from Makers Mark. There's videos on YouTube of the Laphroaig people doing tastings with the Makers people. Maybe compare to Makers and see if you can pick it up.
Bought a bottle of New Amsterdam to use in making LITs. Learned pretty quickly I wasn't a fan of gin but at the end of the bottle decided I should try a gin and tonic with it to see what all the hype was about. Used whatever tonic water I could find at Kroger and made it 2 parts gin 4 parts tonic and a lime wedge. Worst thing I've ever tasted! I have to believe I just made it bad or used the wrong stuff. The gin really disappeared and it tasted like bad bitter as hell tonic water. Couldn't even find the lime in there. Too bad I ran out of gin before experimenting with other ratios. What would be a standard ratio for gin and tonic?
+Common Man Cocktails just got back from a christmas party where i was drunk and bartending and i made a drink featuring coke and 1/2 ounce of orange patron, bacardi, magarita mix,red stag, and honey flavored jager and top with 7up
+dave nichols+zanesttc No need to make a video bashing someones product. Haha… I love Wild Turkey101 and Rare Breed so I thought I would try Kentucky Spirit. Finally finished the bottle and really did not like it at all. I don't know if I got a bad batch or that was just the style they were going for. That being said the last 2 glasses I had of it were the best out of the whole bottle. For those i decided to try it with an ice cube which I never do and for the last one I added probably 3 times as much water as I normally would. Wish I would have tried it those ways earlier in the bottle and maybe I would have liked it better.
