Today was my first visit to the FNPO, and after stumbling across shocking reviews when googling open hours I was quite anxious about needing to go and collect a parcel. Thankfully I walked out with my parcel after a brief and pleasant exchange with the lady. While waiting in the line I did find it amusing to observe the proceedings, the banter etc. It was nice too, to see other customers smirk or giggle to themselves, share a look between them. I had a good experience, but I get the sense I escaped today without incident, and next time might not be so lucky.

We live almost directly opposite this Post Office, but we pay to have a PO Box in Carlton North so we don't have to deal with the horrific service at Fitzroy North LPO. Wait times are terrible, the staff are rude and they remain oblivious to the fact that parcel delivery slips are often neglected. They fail to understand that you're not going to go into the PO to pick up a parcel if you don't know that it's there. Being rude to customers might be the cultural norm, as suggested by other reviewers but the incompetence of the staff here is not. I'll continue to pay for a PO Box in an effort to avoid this place until it changes hands.

The customer service is totally horrible. I went to this place many times to pickup parcels which is I try to avoid. There are only 3 people working here, I remember each one of them. The staff rarely say hi or greeting customers. Always complain how long my name and surname is. The last time I went there to pickup my parcel, I prepared my ID with photo, proof of address and email notification from Auspost. I showed the nofification on my phone to the lady, she pushed my phone away impolitely not even tried to look at it and said to me "I can't see" and she insisted me to show her the card because that the only way she can see. I believe that I can show the notification from mobile phone. I tried to explain to her politely but the answer is "no". She only want to see the card. I was totally stunned how can this staff work here and have to mange lots of parcels and letters and she can't see thing properly. The customer is really bad. I'm not the only one who has got bad experiences here. All the reviews down below can prove. The Australia post office have to do something about this place.

Unfortunately I have a box at this post office otherwise I would never go there. I always look forward to it with a sense of dread not knowing what to expect. I think Fawlty Towers may have been marginally worse. Thanks goodness they are not serving food as well ..HAHA. I have decided not to have any more parcels sent there; instead sending them anywhere else due to never answering the phone when you call ; as i often have to drive long distances to pick something up and why would i go if it is not there yet? Yes I agree they , all except for the young man who is not there often enough, are extremely rude and have trouble comprehending what you are saying. Very abrupt and snappy. Money must speak louder than reputation apparently. I am seriously considering opening a box somewhere else but will check them out first :-)

Every time I have to use this postoffice I have a truly horrible experience. And I mean have to, as I now walk to clifton hill or carlton in the hope of avoiding going to this dismal place.They have been running this post office for a while now and their attitude and customer service has not improved one bit,they might as well not be in business as I know lots of people who make a decision to use another post office.I continue to have to wait for parcels that the older female can not locate, or the elderly male can not find the right registered letter.When do we get a working, organised and friendly post office.North fitzroy deserves this as part of our community.

They are the rudest, meanest,most exceptionally unhelpful people that I have ever come across in Australia Post. I'm sure it's people like this couple are the reason Australia Post is losing so many jobs. And if you are wondering why I go there at all? Well it happens to be where my parcels get sent. Thankfully I don't get too many parcels. They need to get out of that business and let people who want to work take over. I've read in another review that we should accept it as that is what it's like in other Asians countries. Well that is a load of bull! We are in Australia and they need to learn our ways. I have never been treated so rudely EVER in any shop. My crime? I asked to collect my parcel. And may God forgive me for making them go look for it as they were busy! Remember this people- it is our money! We buy things that are sent by parcels. We pay our bills etc. Yet all they care about is treating us all like we are the scum of the earth. Like I said- they need to get out. Let someone who wants to work be there!

I love this place. It's a wonderful, chaotic, small corner of the world where pomp and ceremony is made of the tiniest tenets of following the rules. Agree with another reviewer who mentions if you go to an Asian country, you get the same officious service. So true! I think this family is from Hong Kong. They work pretty hard in a cramped space with all the boxes that are being delivered there. They're pretty good in that they usually extend the time allocated for holding your parcel - I collected a parcel after 10 days there and was so grateful they'd kept it. Yes, they can be abrupt and use a clipped manner of articulating what they want you to do next when you're filling out a form, or what-have-you, but that's part of their charm. Smile and go with the flow. Enjoy the theatre of it all. Lovely, happy family who clearly love what they do and work very hard to follow the rules.
