Why can it prove hazardous to replace just one individual suction cup?

This particular suction cup may have a higher carrying capacity than any of the other suction cups. If the remaining suction cups slip just a small amount, the new suction cup will attempt to prevent this and that can overload the new suction cup.

If you wish to lift loads vertically, we therefore always recommend replacing all of the suction cups, assuming that the remaining suction cups are more than 6 months old, .

Vacuum lifter 7441-DS6H in a functional test

This custom version of the 7441-DS6H vacuum lifter was manufactured in response to a customer request. The device has a detachable set of wideners with adjustable length. The basic frame can be altered by extensions and wideners to suit customer wishes.

In its fully extended version, this device is able to move loads weighing up to 2000 kg safely on construction sites, and it therefore complies with EU standard EN 13155.

In this video you can view the functional test with a test plate weighing 2000 kg as well as the load test. Right at the end, we show how the wideners should be fitted.

Vacuum lifting device 7025-AD4-2 is intended for use in the glass polishing shop

For the development of this device, we have the following wish list:
- to move glass strips measuring 2000 x 1000 mm up to 6000 x 600 mm
- Easy handling
- Infinitely variable rotation clockwise / anti-clockwise
- Maximum weight 250 kg

Out came the vacuum lifting device 7025-AD4-2. You can view our function test in the video clip.

The dimensions of this version of the device can be adjusted, if you wish to move smaller sizes.

This vacuum lifting device, the 7025-AD4-2, is equipped with a pneumatic economy circuit, as well as with a quick-release function. This not only makes the 7025-AD4-2 vacuum lifter economical, it also places a 'green thumb' on the air supply - reducing consumption - and also reducing workplace noise emission levels.

The vacuum lifting device Kombi 7441-DS3H at your service

A vacuum lifter for powered turning and tilting that can move loads weighing 1125 kg at EC construction sites.

Now there is the vacuum lifting device 7441-DS3H, also with a powered rotational drive. The Kombi 7441-DS3H vacuum lifter has a control unit with a quick-change accumulator system. All suction cups can be dismantled individually, quickly and easily.

The basic device can be extended using a maximum of 6 extensions.This makes a wide variety of suction cup layouts possible.

There are also conversion kits for curved glass panes for the Kombi 7441-DS3H. This creates even more options.

Summary of instructions for vacuum lifter Kombi 7011-DS5-2012

Vacuum lifting device Kombi 7211-DS5-2012 is designed for use in-company. With its quick-change system for the battery, it can be used almost right around the clock. All you need is a crane hook or similar item, and the device is then ready for operation.

The device exists in a version with 4 or 6 suction cups, depending on what you wish to move with the device.

Another benefit of this series of devices is that it comes with a range of suction frames. This means that the device can be equipped quickly for use with curved panes of glass. Also, that is something that can be retro-fitted at any time. Or there is an arrangement featuring a single row of suction cups.

The outcome of these load tests was not convincing!

With a vacuum lifting device of type MRTALP611LDC made by Wood´s PowrGrip, we carried out the annual maintenance. For us, we always place emphasis on performing a load test to enable our customers to know what the vacuum lifter is really capable of achieving. You see, it is not possible to establish the carrying capacity of a suction cup just by examining it visually.

Instead, a test is conducted on the basis of EU standard EN 13155 that constitutes state-of-the-art since 01.01.2004 for all 'loose lifting equipment', stipulating the minimum requirements that need to be satisfied.

Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of what this standard actually signifies. We did not get this impression after our test.

For a construction site vacuum lifter, this means that, if a vacuum circuit should fail, the vacuum lifter must still always be capable of supporting double the nominal rating. For a vacuum lifter with two vacuum circuits that should support a load of 500 kg, this means that one vacuum circuit must be able to hold 1000 kg, and to do so in any position.

As we understand this standard, this should be possible for at least five minutes to provide a sufficient length of time for lowering the load.

Generally, the carrying capacity of the suction cups reduces as time passes, meaning that they need to be replaced in order to assure sufficient carrying capacity.

However, there are also cases where this is technically not possible as a result of incorrect design.

In our brief documentation, you can gain a picture of just how seriously we take vacuum lifter maintenance work. We do not place our trust in statements but instead test them before we ourselves issue a statement. Even if this sometimes delivers a terrifying result. But your safety is at stake here!
