The home to one of the richest men on Earth, William Randolph Hearst in San Simeon, CA. Designed by the first woman architect in history, Julia Morgan. It took over 38 years to build (still remains unfinished) from 1919-1947. This place is so massive, see those mountains surrounding the home, he owned them and remains so today (even after death). There was even a zoo, his own airport and because this, highway 1 was built (it's off the coast of California).
It takes 4 different tours to see the property and Charlie Chaplin (one of many Hollywood, sport, media legends of its era) were regular guests here since they were friends. Check it out: http://hearstcastle.org/
It's worth a visit.
