You can find more lovely #VintageMemes on Twitter.

The Fascinating Case of the Dancing Plague of 1518

Hundreds of people died in Strasbourg, Alsace, because they could not stop dancing. What sounds like the very first rave in history, might have been induced by Ergotamine, a kind of wheat mold that acts like LSD. It does not explain though why so many people ended up dancing together. The city council even built a wooden stage for the dancers and hired musicians to accompany the bizarre phenomenon. After four days of constant dancing, many died of heart attacks or exhaustion.

The Look of Music

Sol Gabetta (one of my favorite cellists) playing Elgar's Cello Concerto while an infrared camera visualizes the movements of her instrument. This is so impressive.
