On the 20th anniversary of my solo bicycle trip across America I've been posting daily excerpts from the contemporaneous journal. You can follow it here from my arrival in Boston for the start. Intended destination: San Diego. https://medium.com/@eolai/cycle-across-america-introduction-86d5d3fc89ef

I have started adding the story of my cycle across America to Medium. This solo cycle tour was done in 1996, and to mark the 20th anniversary I'm posting the original journal - which was comprised of handwritten and audio-taped entries which were later transcribed.
I'm also including photographs, but there aren't that many because hey, it was 1996. The whole thing starts here: https://medium.com/@eolai/cycle-across-america-introduction-86d5d3fc89ef#.oohyblns2

(I did a similar exercise in 2006 but that was a quick edit and many journal entries were then inaccessible in storage.)

My most recently completed painting - finished a few days ago (and sold within 2 minutes of posting on twitter @eolai) "Glenbrook II" is a Cork painting, of the view from Great Island (where Cobh lives) across Cork Harbour where the ferry takes you. #irishart #cork

Painting of a bicycle on the Great Western Greenway in Mayo in the west of Ireland. It was done as part of the 24-hour live video painting event I did at the end of 2014. The painting is sold. #irishart

"Four Courts from the East" A Dublin painting from the summer of 2014 - it went to a good home in the Lebanon. This is the view from across the Liffey where Essex Quay meets Wood Quay - and you're looking at O'Donovan Rossa Bridge and where Upper Ormond Quay meets Inns Quay. #irishart

For the day that's in it, here's a painting I did over 30 years ago when I was a teenager. It was quite large - I no longer have it as it disappeared in 1992, stolen or binned, while I was cycling to Istanbul.
