-Dog Beach (North) Review- Quick Facts: -No Parking Fee on Sunday (usually $12/car); not 100%, but I didn't have to pay last Sunday (off season) -Dogs on a leash are allowed in the Park's day use areas, campground and north beach (north of lifeguard tower 3). -Dogs are not allowed on back country trails or south beach (south of lifeguard tower 3). -parking lot gives direct access to dog beach The sand is short out on the North beach making the walk a lot shorter to the water. This place is clean, quiet, and the bathrooms are easily accessible by the parking lot; quick rinse shower is also available by the bathrooms. Leo Carillo Dog Beach is a lot less crowded than Rosie's Dog Beach (Long Beach). It's a plus if your pup is new to socializing with other dogs or you want to take your pup out to the beach for the first time. Overall, any beach that allows dogs is great! Now, can you get the laws to change so our dogs can be unleashed??? The Rangers will give out tickets after the first warning for dogs unleashed, so watch out! Tip: a great place for you and your dog after a morning hike in the Santa Monica Mountains!

Nice stretch of beach. Cool caves and tide pools. A lot of dog lovers, with dogs. Almost obsessive, kinda weird to see people treating dogs like children, whatever i guess... My wife coined it Malipupu Beach due to amount of dog presents left behind.

- one of the few dog beaches in LA (requires on leash) - open late into the night for camping out a bit - has nearby camping facilities if you're interested in cooking out - centrally located in malibu for restaurants and matador beach

when i went to outdoor school in 6th grade, we all hiked from Camp bloomfield to leo carrillo state beach. The tide pools are a perfect place for kids to learn about animals. We all saw an octopus underneath a rock! best place for a family vacation!

Went for a weekend on one of last weekends of summer, we had the 'group' camp site. Can have up to 50 people on site, 12 parking spaces. There is your own restroom and showers for your group. It was truly an amazing experience. You can make all the noise you wanted, the site was isolated so no other campers could really here. There were bugs, mostly spiders that crawled into my tent and bit me at night. Less than ten min walk to the private beach which was beautiful and clean. Will be coming back most definitely.

Went there for a girls camping trip! We had a lot of fun. The campground was clean. The bathrooms are nice as well. Just a word of advice though, if you are an early morning pee'er bring your own toilet paper. They fill the toilet paper daily, but by the end of the night they run out. So thankfully we had our own to go grab before maintenance came (around 8am) to clean and stock the restrooms. It is a short walk to the beach. Like others have said, great tide pools. Ofter you can see dolphins swimming by. My only complaint would be the price. It is a bit much to camp there.
