Kinda ridiculously excited. First time I've seen Pan Bagnat in the wild. Recalling #powersearchingwithgoogle #mooc 2012. Can't wait to tell the blogger who originally sent me that question that I'm having one for brunch.

Actually, it's misspelled. It should be "pane bagnat". It's not French, but Occitan, which is a dialect of Catalan.

Up here to work with the Alaska School Librarians Leadership Academy. What a great group! But we did see moose (my #geobuff had never see one, even in Yellowstone or when he tagged along on my work trip to Finland years back, so he did not believe they existed) - we'll keep an eye out for the droppings.

In case you thought LOL Cats was a new idea--
I was helping a student track down the source of an anti-suffrage postcard, and came across this archive: http://www.uni.edu/palczews/NEW%20postcard%20webpage/Cats.html

OK, I was a teen when Reading Rainbow came about, but I still watched it. And so did my kids.
Bring Reading Rainbow’s unlimited library of interactive books and video field trips to kids everywhere & help classrooms most in need!

Call for Proposals open through December 15

Coming to ALA Annual in San Francisco this year? Consider extending your trip to the Bay Area in order to join us for a two-day colloquium, Research Relevance: K-12 Library Instruction for the 21st Century. It will take place June 24-25, in Palo Alto, CA.  A call for proposals for concurrent sessions is still open, through December 15, 2014.

We are looking for hands-on sessions that focus closely on essential information skills and/or strategies and pedagogy to best support today’s learners. Preference will be given to sessions emphasizing participatory, collaborative structures that provide attendees with resources for use at their sites.

Conference information and starter topic ideas, as well as the form to submit a session proposal: castilleja.org/researchrelevance.

If you want to come and explore these topics with us without running a session, registration will open in January. You can sign up for updates here as well.

Questions? Email ResearchRelevance@castilleja.org

Thank you,
Tasha Bergson-Michelson, Instructional and Programming Librarian

Have great articles about pros/cons of multiple devices in middle school? OR import of quality of what you do with tech vs quantity of tech?

And, a new resource for learning popular words....
The FBI had FOMO on the internet 411, so they compiled a list of 2,800 acronyms. They're all here, FYI.

Trying to figure out what I think about this.... Colleague assures me this is very cool.
How do you translate that headline into the guttural tongue of Essos’ nomadic horse lords? Until this fall, you’ll find the answer to that question only...

Hi, I am a 6th-12th grade (11-18-year-olds) instructional librarian at a girls' school in Palo Alto, CA. I specialize in teaching research skills, but have also been learning my way around YA lit this year!

Story
Tagline
Librarian and search geek. Passionate about how we teach people to find what they want, and making it easier than ever with search.
Introduction
Passionate about enabling people to find quality information with popular tools. Equally passionate about methods for learning and teaching about search. Google Search Education expert.

Favorite book: The Phantom Tollbooth.

While I work at Castilleja, these post reflect my own thoughts and not those of my employer. It is completely my own obsession with search and wonder that I share here.
