WIT - Wir Im Team - Whatever It Takes
Aktion am 25./26. April 2015
-------------------------------------------------------------

for english Version please scroll ;-)

That‘s Ingress! The World is our playground …

Hallo Agent! Du weißt, wir bauen heute ein Feld. Wir werden deine Zelle überdachen.
Und deine Nachbarzelle.
Mehrere Zellen.

Wir Im Team – WIT – Whatever it takes.

Seid genau.
Seid schnell.
Seid hartnäckig.

Passt auf euch auf!

Resist!

ENGLISH VERSION
-------------------------------------------------------------

In November, the cell NR02-GOLF-03 was covered by a field during Operation #Bluemotion . While preparing for this operation, I drew all the cells in Germany on a map with links - just for fun. When the operation was over and someone asked what we should do next, I showed them a screenshot of this little drawing.

Someone spoke to me a few weeks later about when I wanted to start this cell project. I thought they were joking around with me. Never on your life! “Why?” “That’s such a brilliant idea. We just need to get a few skilled people together.” Another agent who was considered crazy enough to fit in was dragged on-board and from jest, seriousness was born.

At the end of January, we started to look for someone to take responsibility for each of the 27 cells involved. Each of us knew somene in the various corners of Germany. Most of us did not know what they were signing up for when they said “I’m in!”. The only thing we let on was that it would be big, crazy and difficult.

The planing team, a total of 30 people, was made up of a good mixture of “old hats” and “young bloods”. An interesting mix, as diverse as the units in each individual cell: someone had to rent a holiday home on an island that could only be reached by ferry. The links in the Ruhrpott area ran through a densely populated area. One link went right through the middle of Munich. In the Alps, there was 5 m deep snow at the anchor portal, meaning that it had to remain unmanned. In the Spreewald, clueless tourist Smurfs built everything up with blue links. In the south-west cell, there was trilingual communication and in the north-east, in Brachland in Brandenburg, there was virtually nothing to clean, but also nobody to do the cleaning. For me as a female Smurf from an unremarkable, rural town of average population, this was taking on a magnitude that I had not yet encountered.

Give it our best - that was our motto. Plans were made, keys were farmed and Hannover turned into a massive key exchange event. For most people, things only really got moving after the anomaly. Time ticked away, cleaners had to be found, as well as ops and eyes. There were to be 104 links made with a total link distance of 12 200 km - the distance from Berlin to the west coast of Australia, except not over water where there is nothing in the way. It was clear to us from the beginning: this would require mobilization of a large number of people. We were also realistic enough to know that we would not reach 100% with this project.

As with all big (and also small) operations, things did not go as we expected from the beginning. Coordinators fell out due to heavy workloads and new people took over - and these people had to get things sorted out in an even shorter time. A huge thank you to all of you… for your generous dedication and a whole lot of strained nerves!

Now let’s get going!
A week before the operation, things slowly got interesting. We gradually gathered all eyes and operators who included agents from The Netherlands, Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, and even Iceland and Norway. Our neighbours were with us from the beginning in terms of cleaning: the Czech Republic and Austria in the eastern corner, Switzerland and France in the south west, teams from Belgium and Luxembourg in the west, and Dutch teams in the northwest. Though we are “rewriting” German borders, the operation binds us across these borders. That‘s Ingress! The World is our playground …

Then, six hours before the planned link time, when the majority of the cleaners were slowly getting on their way, an animated GIF was sent to hundreds of Hangouts throughout Germany:

Hallo Agent! You know that we’re fielding tonight. We will cover your cell.
And the neighbouring cell.
Multiple cells.
All cells.

More than 1500 agents are currently on their way. Just like you.
We won’t succeed everywhere.
But we will give our best in our team everywhere.
We In Team – WIT – Whatever it takes.

Be precise.
Be quick.
Be stubborn.

Look after yourselves!

Resist!

Then there was silence. For almost two hours. Hangouts only rang rarely. Zello was silent. Nothing. After three months of organisation - (in the last week, several hours a day - I even destroyed my hopes of Soujourner because of it) - was genuinely boring.
Why? Because all of “my people” were, in return, busy with “their people”! Eyes and operators were checking the link corridors, reassigning cleaners, planning cleaning routes, allocating access rights, answering questions about cleaning, writing to block linkers… they were doing their work. And they did an outstanding job.

Around 130 eyes were gathered in one hangout, and still there was silence. 1.45 AM was the link time. Individual links were even cleared by 1.00 AM. There was only one agreement for the night: what needed to be linked would be linked. We don’t wait for each other because we didn’t want to risk spontaneous blocking links. Each cell was not only responsible for themselves, but also for up to 8 neighbours. If one link failed, this was also missing from the neighbouring cell. If an anchor portal was not built up on time, up to four cells could not link. We took no chances.

From 1.20 AM, there was movement in the Hangouts. Increasing numbers of notifications came in: link cleared, link cleared, link cleared.
At 1.40 AM, anchor portals across Germany were built up. 42 in total.
Then it went off like clockwork - horizontal link appeared, diagonal link appeared, field appeared, cell completed… I couldn’t grin hard enough. Intel completely lost it after the first two or three cell fields. Appropriate screenshots were not possible. Even the person we asked to make screenshots in London didn’t stand a chance. We really wanted to have a cool video, but you know, sometimes things don’t work out. Now we could just rapidly tick off what the operators told us was complete

Within the first 15 mins, a handful of cells were already covered, and more followed in the next 45 minutes - a total of 19 cells made it - 6 half way and 2 didn’t wamke it. One of the half-cells was completed later in the night, but there were so many that were taken down. The bigger field in one of the baltic sea cells wins the long-standing award with 41.5 hours.

Yes. That happened.

Great work everyone, from the sites to the Intel to the connected cells, we rocked this series!

It might be time for a little sleep. Don't get too excited, you will be woken up soon enough.

"Hey lass uns doch einfach mal Deutschlandweit einladen!"

Gesagt, getan!

Ingress XM Anomaly; the Adventure, the Challenge
From the situation room,   #Rotterdam , August 23rd 2014,   #Helios #ingress

[*TLDR: OPS team had a blast leading nearly 50 battleteams in the clusters to win the Rotterdam Helios XM anomaly. As an OPS teammember, I tell you the Enlightened challenged us bravely, OPS grew in our roles and were able to make a difference. From coming together as a new team at the command center to winning the competition like we were experience OPS veterans, together with our splended field agents and teamleads. We loved this anomaly and thank all with some special notices, for making this an awesome day!]

*Full story: Still filled with excitement and some pride from yesterday’s Ingress Helios XM Anomaly in Rotterdam, I’ll share my experiences from the Resistance OPS team that lead the blue faction to victory.

Finally the day we had looked forward to and had prepared for for weeks was there. Competition day in the augmented world of Ingress. The Helios Satelite XM Anomoly in Rotterdam! As a welcome to the Resistance faction, the city had turned into one big blue P8 farm. Agents had been active all night to take a headstart at the start of the event. A great way to start the day, the battle wouldn’t be won easily, this was RES Rotterdams welcome to all our Inter/national agents.

Lightning strikes
Arriving at the Resistance Headquarters for the day, early in the morning I joined the OPS team +Lion Van Koppenhagen +Walter van Rijswijk +Kira Kage +Daniel van Os +werner flipsen  and even though some had had minimal hours of sleep that night we were all stoked and ready for today’s battle…. then lightning struck!

Yes actual lightning! The skyscraper neighbouring HQ’s was struck by lightning and we were out of electricity and internet… a situation that could not be worse for the operations team. Fortunately power came back as did the internet connection and our intelscreens and communicationchannels were back to, their hectic, normal.

Agents that had been making Rotterdam a big blue area of tranquility all night, came by to get some black coffee, international teamleads picked up their local +lebara SIM cards for mobile internet and swag was divided towards the cross faction gathering. Some 1000 agents from many countries were present, what a great turn up! The weather was great, inventories full, the mood up and we got ready for the first cluster and measurement window.

Measurement window 1 - clever tactics
At the headquarters, we got into our roles pretty smoothly. Putting six individuals, with proper battleground experience into a lead team is not a sure win on all occassions, especially when you put a diverse team under pressure, leading 50 teams in the field, with so many strategies and variables, it could easily lead to tension. Even after the first time measurement, that was won with quite a difference, by our competitors, the Englightened, we did not cringe. We committed to the challenge, picked up our lessons and went all in. It was a great experience to come together like that, tune communications and lead our teams into the next clusters. The pressure was on, on which we strived.

Measurement window 2 - The RES field
The fielding team was silent most of the time, like in trance they focussed on the intelmap, finding way’s to link portals, shooting links across the country, in contact with agents inland and abroad. Blocking enemy field attempts, removing blocking links for our own fields. Then that Eureka moment ‘Field is up’ came. Going into time measurement 2 a huge blue field had covered the cluster… and a whole lot more at that! The field was not only good for some points, but also worked in our advantage, as teams on the battleground were enabled to focus on scoring portals within the cluster. From the first cluster we had learned from the smart Enlightened strategy on scoring points and we we intercepted similar strategies in time measurement two. Even though that part did not really make a difference due to the blue field that was there most of the time. It was the work of the teams in the cluster the we the Resistance won round 2, but with a small margin. Overall, the Enlightened still were in the lead, based on total points of the two measurements.

Measurement window 3 - The ENL field
And we prepared for the third measurement window. The OPS team really got into it, communication with the teams in the field went really well, tactics and strategy were set, we were working in and outside of the cluster, had our hands full in between the measurement windows intercepting enemy activity, things were looking somewhat grim on the tactic the Enlightened had used in the first measurement window, but our troops were on the case… then however… ‘Green field up’

Gotta give some respect to our competition, they had managed to take out our field pretty quickly and had been able to counter it with a huge field from NL to the UK, covering rotterdam too… Even though that field was a job well done, it didn’t work out that well for the Enlightend teams in the cluster area. Their tactics from the first round, were also blocked by this field, so our agents focussed on our own tactics. For the OPS team, it was a bit of a weird situation. We could almost relax a bit throughout the measurement window while the troops fought their battle and the green field freed us from further realtime interventions of enemy tactics. It turned out yet again a small win for the Resistance. Overall our competition was still in the lead… It was time for the final and deciding measurement window 4.

Measurement window 4 - Endurance and local insights
Our local hero Lion informed us where we could expect enemy activity leading into the measurement window. We reassigned teams to battle that activity and Lions choices turned out decisive. Enabling us to go into measurement window 4 with a slight advantage in the cluster. Our battleteams outperformed themselves, taking portals, defending, shooting links all through the area, it was great to see the action on the intell map as we the OPS teams aligned with the battleteams in the cluster. Reassigning targets, addressing incoming intell, upping inventories, sharing tactics, leading to… victory!?! as the measurement window closed... it was going to be a close call...

Looking at the map, we were confident we had won the fourth battle. Having more portals and links this time… but how much more? Would it be enough to take the big prize? It felt like we had to wait for ever to get the final scores. All battleteams moved towards the crossfaction gathering and most had already arrived to share their stories and enjoy a beer or two when we finally got the results in. YES we had won the fourth measurement and YES we won by a big enough margin to win the Tournament. The Rotterdam Anomaly winners are the Resistance!

Dutch Resistance takes Helios and remains undefeated
Time to celebrate our win, unwind from the excitement, meet our glorious battleteam agents, at the crossfaction meeting. What a day :)

From HQs I can tell you it had been an amazing adventure. We have been challenged well by our opponent, it was a fair battle and we salute the Enlightened for their efforts, they gave us quite a run for our money. We are proud to remain undefeated in the Netherlands and look forward to the next occasion to battle our opponent.

The OPS team likes to thank all battleteams for their dedication and endurance which have made the difference! We would like to thank our foreign faction members that traveled miles to join us on our mission. Without you we can not protect humanity the way we do ;) Also a special mention is made for the   #HackExtravaganza agents, especially ‘hacks in a week World record holder’ +Kenneth Linzey  Also a heads up to sponsor +Lebara Nederland for supplying mobile internet to our foreign agents. I'm not pinging all the hero's from the night shift, special ops, distant travelers, etc. I wouldn't want to forget anyone -> We love you all! Respect is given'

You are the Resistance! Let freedom reign
Closing of with +Kira Kage's  theme song, you might want to jump in around the 1 minute mark and wait for the lyrics from 1:13 onwards:

Since Operation BlueNights (https://plus.google.com/+FlurinNoller/posts/bthGtUUmkRj) didn’t result in a green counter operation, we wanted to challenge the frogs again with an even bigger operation. Our goals: Longer links, more layers, more MUs. In the night from 11th July to 12th July, we did so in Operation BlueNights 2.

The facts:
Planned layers: 37
Keys farmed: 600
Jarvis used: 100+
Total number of layers built due to frogs killing the fields while we were building them: 52
MU captured: 448.117.690
Outer links’ lengths: 241km, 249km, 325km
Area captured: 29.740km²

love the FUHAcorn! And happy birthday Samy

It was awsome to be part of this OP, although in the end I didn't have to do much since my fellow agents Magic4ras, deephouselover and Gorby let certain portals decay which had blocking links in my region.

Immer wieder gerne:-)

just wait until the frogs leave and do it again 😉

Many thanks to everyone involved!

Always a pleasure to save the world.

Great field anyway... Luring frogs by getting around them and making my field from the first portals still up

Tiiiiiired. And a big thanks for giving us the opportunity to make a big ass field.

I'd like to have a word (if possible on the sitrep) for Samy Vandecaastle (aka @lidlesseye), who organized a party we couldn't stay until end for last cleans. :-)

Even with meticulous planning, Belgian mobile coverage happens...

Hope to see more of this trough my hometown.

Respekt! Gern wieder.

Thanks to all involved field agents and the orga team for a great job.

My first, big Operation

Nearly minutes before the planned linking time, a late frog (it was 03:13am localtime) created a blocking link. It was my job to clean the area in the north-east and I was able to do it in time! Thanks for being part of this!

Probs for Ops, quick response, very well organised and sharp as an eagle eye

After a long, long night and an exhausting day with barbecue and family the only words I might have to say to anybody are reserved to Mr. Tullamore Dew. However, again it was a plesure. Any time, anywhere. Resist!

My most biggest field is going to 2150-fold tonight

When everything was cleared without any opposition, I had a hard time believing that, yes we had open access and no frog was trying to close the window.

Tolle Aktion - Vielen Dank!

Resistance is great, blue is a nice color, but blue nights of Flurin are always awesome, thanks for your ideas :D
