Incy Wincy Pose of the Week:Rock a baby

Rock a baby teach younger children to treat babies with care and lots of love.

1. Come into seated position with legs crossed.
2. Lift your top leg up gently by placing one hand at your foot and the other underneath the knee so your calf is off the ground.
3. Tuck your knee of the lifted leg into the crease of your arm while tucking your foot into the crease of the opposite arm.
4. Interlock your fingers on the outside of your leg and 'rock your baby' gently.

Incy Wincy Momaste’ Tip of the Week: Viparita Karani (Legs Up the Wall Pose)

Hey Moms-to-be! Legs Up the Wall is another great yoga pose to practice when you are pregnant and to keep thereafter. If your feet have swollen to an unrecognizable size and your legs feel tired and heavy it is likely due to the extra pressure on the sacrum and the extra weight your regular frame isn’t used to carrying around all day every day. By letting your legs rest up a wall, or propped up on pillows as high as you can comfortably get them, you allow blood that becomes stagnant in the legs and lower back to more easily recirculate. This can help with swollen feet and varicose veins alike.

So grab some pillows, prop your legs up the wall and let gravity help your body feel great!

Incy Wincy Game of the week: Fog it up!

Its humid outside! Why not find a nice foggy window or mirror and play a game! Have a child sit in front of a window or mirror and inhale through their nose and exhale through their mouth to make the glass extra foggy. Quickly draw an animal or a yoga pose and have everyone guess which one it is. Next, do the yoga pose together as a group! The person who guessed what the drawing was correctly gets to draw the next picture. So go ahead and fog it up! Just make sure to wash your hands when you are finished!

5. IWY Meditation/Visualization of the week… Bell Meditation

Practice attentive listening, focus and concentration while exploring the sense of sound!
Invite children to sit comfortably with their eyes closed. Using a bell, ting-shas, or a singing-bowl ask them to use their sense of hearing to connect with sound. Ask them to listen carefully and as soon as they hear the sound of the bell stop to raise their hand. Don’t have a bell? Ask them to listen to the sounds in the space. What is closest? Far away? What do you hear on the left? Right? You can try this in the class room, the park, walking down the street or lying in bed before falling asleep.

What did you hear? How did you feel? Try it and share it with us!

Incy Wincy Yoga Pose of the Week: Reversed Table Top

Strong firm tables allow us put our things on it. Start by sitting on the mat, feet on the mat and knees point up to the sky. Palms pressed firmly on the mat, fingertips pointing towards the heels and SLOWLY, straighten the table (lift hips up)! To make it more fun, start placing things on the “table”.
