This is some good insight and something I happen to agree with. I do think when comparing Twitter to Google+, that you also have to consider Circles on Google+ and how that can perhaps improve or maybe reduce the chances of your post being read when compared to Twitter where I would say most read the tweets in one stream rather than filtering.

Hey Google+ can I stretch the voice bubbles to the right to fill up the white negative space over there? >>>>>>>>

It seems like the thumbnails of people in the circle and 'suggestions' and 'spread the love' could be placed above or below the hangout area to the far right.

The one that I've seen recently which is a great idea is imprinting your ad into the sand on the beach using modified steamrollers that roll down the beach in the morning and imprint your ad and others onto the fresh beach sand.

Eventually text message marketing will be overused but right now, I think there's a lot of potential for many businesses to use it in their marketing plan.

Usually I don't get so heated about articles about brands and advertising but this one is ridiculous. This seems like an editorial I would read on FoxNews or perhaps CNN not AdWeek.

Should clothing manufacturers stop making hoodies because they are somehow profiting off a teenager's death? Skittle and Artizona Iced Tea have no reason to get involved or "communicate" further.

If you want a company to "communicate" further regarding shooting deaths then go to the manufacturers of the guns and the bullets but not the company who made the victim's jeans, the victim's clothing or the snacks or groceries the victim happened to be carrying. It's pathetic that these stories are even published in the first place.
