I dream that I walk in purple. Oh, I really do walk in the royal color because I'm the newest faculty member of TCU's School of Strategic Communication. Our school came to life on June 1, 2014. We are full of lively professors, collaborative colleagues, and exemplary students. I teach Introduction to Media Writing and Editing and a junior-level Strategic Communication Writing course. I've taught college courses both online and in the classroom since August 2006 at the University of North Texas, Smarthingking.com, Sul Ross State University, and now TCU. Courses I've taught include: Research for Public Relations and Advertising, Communications for Engineers, College Writing: Ancient Rhetoric for Contemporary Students, and Introduction to Speech. I created Writing for Digital Media this summer for Sul Ross and redesigned the Strategic Communication concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Communication.
My main interests are strategic communication, diversity in the media, political communication, media theory, media ethics, public relations and advertising, nonfiction writing, reading poetry, biographies, memoirs and personal essays. I love sunsets, the mountains, cool weather, hot days in a swimming pool, friends and family, lively conversation, traveling and depending upon the temperature: iced tea with limes or vanilla lattes.
