Today is World COPD Day. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a long-term disease of the lungs which causes shortness of breath. It affects one in seven (or 14.5%) Australians aged 40 or over and is the second leading cause of avoidable hospital admissions
While there is currently no cure for COPD, evidence shows that there are things you can do to breathe easier. Early diagnosis and disease management programs such as pulmonary rehabilitation can reduce the burden of COPD, improve quality of life, slow disease progression, reduce mortality and keep people well and out of hospital.

Symptoms of lung disease tend to creep up slowly and people often automatically adjust their daily activities to accommodate or reduce their symptoms rather than getting help. When was the last time you checked in with your lungs?

November 8th is the International Day of Radiology,
commemorating the discovery of x-rays by
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895.
It is the day we celebrate the value of radiology
and its ability to save lives.
It is also an opportunity to build awareness of the critical role
radiologists play as part of the healthcare team.

Perth Radiological Clinic has certainly embraced our fundraising campaign for October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Our staff at our Bentley Hospital branch have been busy decorating the clinic and making and selling cupcakes and lolly cups to raise funds for the two organisations we are supporting during October; @McGrathFoundation and @bcrcwa. PRC is also donating $5 to each organisation for every mammogram we perform during the month.
