More snow! No sign of the harsh winter abating in Edinburgh just yet. Aerial photo taken from Bonaly Country Park overlooking the Pentland Hills.

There was heavy snow across Edinburgh yesterday. With a break in the weather at sunrise this morning we took the opportunity to head down to Carlton Cricket Ground near Blackford to use as the launch point for the drone.

The photos we captured were similar to those we took last week, but the sprinkling of snow makes the city look even more beautiful. Arthu's Seat looks more resplendent than ever.

Earlier this week we managed to capture a rather beautiful and winery orange sunset over Edinburgh with a handful of aerial photographs.

We headed down to Carlton Cricket Club in Blackford, Edinburgh who had kindly given us permission to fly our drone from their premises. We were able to capture three images of the city looking in different directions about 10 minutes before sunset.

Arthur’s Seat is such an iconic sight on the Edinburgh skyline and one which we never tire of seeing. Where else in the world do you have such a unique, distinctive and beautiful green space in the heart of a city? When we see the outline of this extinct volcano (which resembles a sleeping lion) it just reminds us that we are home. The summit of Arthur’s Seat is just 251 metres high but provides unparalleled panoramic views across the city. There are so many amazing things about Edinburgh but this incredible landmark is our favourite – either to look at, or to look from.

In 2017 we made a pledge to post a new photo on Instagram every single day.

This became really addictive. It was simple enough to take behind the scenes stills from shoots we were on, but we needed to have more variety in our output. This is where the drone really came into its own.

Primarily we use our drones for aerial filming. In the last year – largely due to the instagram challenge – we got into aerial photography in a big way.

We would often undertake flights solely for the intention of shooting stills.
In August 2017, we invested in the Canon 1DX Mark 2 camera and started taking a lot more landscape photography.

By sticking to this Instagram pledge, the content we’ve generated over the past 12 months has been invaluable.

We now have a whole series of photos which we can promote across all of our social media channels. The photos have been useful to show to clients and have been used in pitches. We’re also able to use the content to generate revenue on stock photography websites.

We’ve pulled together 12 of our favourite photos taken in Scotland in 2017. We hope you like them!
