Music Students Join Workforce Plan Protest

Students enrolled in Music  programs at Clarion University took part in an early-morning protest today outside a "Community Breakfast" hosted by the local American Legion at which Clarion University President Dr. Karen Whitney and Provost Dr. Ron Nowaczyk were guest speakers.

Protesters were voicing their strong opposition to President Whitney's "Workforce Plan," released earlier this week. In her plan, President Whitney has directly targeted Music programs for elimination, and the retrenchment of nearly all of the Music faculty. The plan also includes shuttering the campus art gallery, ending programs in French and German, the dissolution of the College of Education, and the firing of 36 employees, including 18 faculty members.
