Very cool write up about the RPG at #13MAGNUSReawakens.
13 Magnus Reawakens RPG Interview

I had the chance to interview Agent Bluekandanoo +Tanya Dixon who played the RPG during Magnus Awakens. There are some intriguing details revealed from this interview.

+John Hanke +Hank Johnson +H. Richard Loeb +Edgar Allan Wright +flint dille +Agent KodamaSmiles

M3taphor : Thank you again so much Bluekandanoo for agreeing to be interviewed, the entire Essex community wants to thank you for willing to share so much about 13 Magnus Awakens and the RPG.

Bluekandanoo: Oh not a problem at all, I’m happy to help!

M3taphor: So we know it must have been incredible, what was it like arriving at camp?

Bluekandanoo: Oh absolutely incredible! Arriving at camp was exciting! Us Canadians met in San Francisco and rented a van so we could drive to Navarro together. Even the road to Navarro was fun, all twisty-turny – and of course, the company was awesome. When we got there, our portal build was in full swing and we were met with excitement and lots of hugs. We unloaded and headed down to register and grab dinner. The Patron portal was near the registration portal and it was so cool to see it as it was up and running. There were agents around battling for that portal, and it was fun to watch and listen to the effects.

M3taphor: that must have been quite the sight! What group were you with and what was your role with them?

Bluekandanoo: I was with Team Enigma (Camp Trickster). I helped mostly at the proposal stage for the portal project, with construction drawings. Working with a team of agents from all over was a great experience and it was amazing to meet them all in person at camp.

M3taphor: Great! So how were the other portals?

Bluekandanoo: I didn’t get as much of an opportunity to see all the portals as I would have liked. The weekend was so full of things to do. That was the big regret from the weekend for me- I wish I could have taken more time to take them all in. Agents put so much work into them, they deserved the opportunity to show them off to the other agents. I can’t imagine what the anomaly portion was like for XF teams who worked together for months – and then had to work against each other. I loved the Luminescent heart - but I’m biased, so I thought Trickster’s Top Hat was the best and super cool because of how interactive it was.

M3taphor: I completely understand that, you probably could have spent the whole week there I imagine?

Bluekandanoo: Oh absolutely!

M3taphor: So, on to the RPG. How did things start?

Bluekandanoo: Well it was interesting. We walked into a hall that had tables setup, and then there were Game Masters who invited us to take any seat, so that’s exactly what we did. Then PAC and Hank Johnson appeared, as well as John Hank and Flint Dille. And they made their opening announcements. The Game Master for our table then began to explain the rules. His instructions were simple and he made the choices clear.

M3taphor: Choices? Like character and archetype choices?

Bluekandanoo: Exactly! The GM asked us to choose an archetype. I was excited that I got to have the trickster! Everyone else actually read about each of the archetypes before deciding, but I knew without hesitation. As a trickster , one per session I could cause all enemies to misjudge their perception for 1 round of combat. The ability didn’t influence my decision though, I just knew my archetype. We each reached into a bag and for a D20, I had picked a bonus ingress themed D20 which meant I had the choice of an ADA or Jarvis for the game, I chose ADA.

M3taphor: So what kind of scenario did you face?

Bluekandanoo: The six of us were at the table, watching as PAC left. Then the game started. Then suddenly we were told that PAC had been taken, and we had to rescue him! Just part of the game I had guessed, but it was strange that PAC was nowhere in sight. We started at the actual camp in the game. As if we hacked portals, we rolled the dice to get items or gear to help.

M3taphor: Very cool, were you able to use the ADA in the game?

Bluekandanoo: Sure did! It was also interesting that power cubes also damaged the opponents we were facing, but also healed the teammates in a radius. Our XMP were weapons.

M3taphor: Powercubes as a weapon? That’s a first. So what else happened at the start?

Bluekandanoo: That’s where things get interesting. We were given a sheet of paper kind of like a star map, and a map of the camp. The star map went over the top of the camp map.

As we hacked portals in the game, we traveled along the map drawing a line as we went. The result was the glyph harmony! Then we were told to find the intersect location in the game map of the camp. Following the maps we found a spot with a printed labyrinth. Later in the day, after the RPG, we found that same spot in the real camp!

We walked through the maze in the RPG, and that’s when it happened! We were told we had been taken into our scanners, into the portal network. The game board flipped over. It didn’t look like camp, but an area with hexagon tiles we had to navigate. Our GM told us that he had been taken by an exogenous entity- and only we could rescue him!

M3taphor: incredible! What was on this new game board?

Bluekandanoo: It looked like a dark side of camp.

There were vortexes that were portals, but also in the corner there was a ship. There were people there, they looked like Spanish Explorers and Anazkteks. We were told to make our way to the ship. It took a lot of rolls. As we went we received items to help us get there.

M3taphor: And did you make it??

Bluekandanoo: I did! I was the first one there! On the ship there was a Pole, like a Totem Pole. On the top there was a space with burned markings. I was told to climb the pole, which with a good roll I was able to do. And then I was handed a prime object! I had made it!

M3taphor: You were actually, in reality, handed a prime object?!

Bluekandanoo: I was! It felt so eerie to hold, It reflected images so clearly! It was like holding a precious diamond.. We also later on found PACS hat. After getting the Prime Object an entity appeared, we used all of our resources and with some lucky rolls we were able to defeat it!

M3taphor: Amazing, and you survived?

Bluekandanoo: Barely! We really had to work hard at it as a team. After defeating the monster, in the game, we went to the pole that was in camp and we placed the Prime Object at the top of the pole, that revealed the small statue of PAC in the game.

We went back to the game board, along with PACs hat, and placed the hat on the statue. That’s when PAC suddenly appeared beside us, saying “Thank you for rescuing me”- it was crazy!

M3taphor: What!? Thats strange that he just showed up like that. Do you think the events of the game happened in reality??

Bluekandanoo: PAC later said, “Alternate Reality, and Reality had crossed over”..i don’t know

M3taphor: Its just a game right? That’s crazy! Did anything else happen of note after?

Bluekandanoo: Yes. Later, at the end of the event ,the pole (including the Prime Object) was given to an enlightened agent who had the most unique deploys for Magnus builder.

M3taphor: What?! You mean someone out there now has both the Prime Object and what activated it?

Bluekandanoo: I guess so.

M3taphor: Incredible. I doubt we have seen the last of it. So final Question, would you play again if given the chance?

Bluekandanoo: In a Luminescent Heartbeat.

Agents, take a look at last week's 13MAGNUS Reawakens event with this highlight video.

To all of the Agents who participated in the MAGNUS Builder event - thank you. The stories that came out of it were inspirational. Seeing so many veteran and new players setting a goal to achieve was great fun to watch. As mentioned, the scanner statistic used to track portals during this event has been removed from your scanner. We hope to do more events like this in the future and welcome any suggestions that you have.

Congratulations, you have completed Challenge 1 and 2 of the Lawson subnetwork XM Amplifier testing operation!

491 Lawson Portals (401 unique portals) were Hacked 630+ times. To celebrate the impressive results by the Agents, Lawson Power Cube output is expected to increase to 4 times more than usual globally for the next several days.

Resistance had more Hacks throughout the week by generating 54.28%, while the Enlightened had 45.72%. All Lawson Portals will have the Resistance Beacon up for the remainder of this event.

The anomalous status of Lawson subnetwork is expected to end soon. Although, we expect the Agents to continue to monitor the Dragon Veins by visiting and continue sharing the test results with us.
