Not getting what you need from the Bible? Well, just listen for God’s voice elsewhere, we’re told. But here’s a fair warning, we often do a convincing impersonation.

We’ve got some “everybody knows” notions about God’s Word that borrow much more from pop culture than they do from the Good Book. Have you fallen victim to one of these?

Too many churches are in denial of emotional abuse, or label it so carelessly that a mere disagreement turns into a series of one-sided counseling sessions. Too many people believe that men abuse women, never their children, and never the reverse gender-wise. Too many people believe that prayer or reading Scripture is the magic formula to cure it, and then further abuse the person who doesn't recover by telling them they "lack faith" or aren't working hard enough at it.
The things we say can cut deeper than any scalpel, and the Bible has warned Christians more than once about the damage our words can inflict.

Christians have started a “who can go the longest without getting angry” contest and we all think we are winning. But what if no one is winning? The only thing our contest is doing is hurting the church.

Note: I have never watched football.
Americans are addicted to football — especially this time of year — and we simply don’t want to be confronted with the results of the violence inherent in the game.

Great doctors, nurses, and staff. Unlike way too many other medical facilities, these people care. Yes, they are often busy, but they do their best.

Great staff and service. Brittany, Raven, and all the others made us feel right at home while we were over there for tests at Moffitt. The one problem we had was that I suspect one of their items didn't agree with me at all, but the manager didn't seem too concerned.

My wife had just finished a procedure at nearby Moffitt Cancer Center when our battery failed to start our Dodge Grand Caravan. After a jump start we had to decide where to take it. Having had good experience with a Goodyear shop in our home town of Melbourne (on the opposite side of Florida), and after reading the reviews here, we chose McGee; it was also convenient to get to from our hotel. They checked out everything and determined it was just the battery, not the cables or anything else. I also asked them to do an oil change. They told me the water pump was beginning to seep, but that it should get us back home, which it did. Everyone there was pleasant on that early Saturday morning, and the job was done quickly. I'm very thankful for McGee.

The staff was very pleasant, and the rooms were clean. I wasn't a big fan of the bed pillows, which looked like a mixture of double-bed and throw pillows; on a king-size bed, it made for poor support. The room we were in was also quite narrow, with the desk and a roll-away table underneath it right next to the bed. We were staying there while my wife was undergoing tests at Moffitt Cancer Center, so the extra stress involved wasn't pleasant.
