If I have not announced it here, I apologize - Sage Greenberg has now joined our design team. I also have a new RPGDad post up at www.andrewgreenberg.com. This one is about the obvious fact that childbirth is like a good first-person shooter.

We've been getting a lot of requests from people as to what they can offer for the upcoming birth of our baby girl. If you are interested (and even if you aren't), check out http://andrewgreenberg.com/rpg-dad/
We have been getting a lot of requests regarding what people can give us for the impending launch of our new project … or, as Meldrena calls it, the upcoming birth of our first child :). The best things our friends can give us are gifts of their time and talents. Gifts of art, music and games ...

Last week, Google released its psychedelic DeepDream program to mass public fascination and acclaim. Using computer systems called “neural networks” that are modeled on the human brain, researchers created code that allows the primordial artificial intelligence of these cybernetic networks to transform photographs into psychedelic dreamscapes. Here’s how the image recognition and alteration works: We train an artificial neural network by showi...

I'm loving the imagery that's showing up from DeepDream but this takes the cake.

Good from Soup to Grouse Very happy our hotel directed us to House of Cooking. While I eat everything, my wife has a list of food sensitivities that could choke a chef. House of Cooking does not have an extensive menu, focusing on a few high-quality, fresh (and mostly organic) ingredients, but they combined these in ways that were exceptionally pleasing to both of us. We started with a shot of pumpkin soup both of us would happily have made a meal. Next I had some fresh bread with a great parmesan butter, but they made my wife a lovely chicken and onion app since she is gluten free. Third course was very simple grilled sardines, but they were the first sardines I have ever gotten my wife to eat (and enjoy). The main course was grouse and pork, and the grouse was the best I have ever had. Completely recommend House of Cooking, even if we were too tired to stay for the live music. FYI, apparently on Sundays they do not serve food, but still have bands and fully stocked bar. The only negatives? Yes, it was a little pricey, but comparable to similar restaurants in the states. Oh, and our extremely helpful waiter Renee had a cooler shirt than I.

While the Oak Grove doctors are fine, their billing process is not. I made sure at the time of my visit that all procedures were covered by my insurance. A month later, I received a bill by mail for that visit. Calling the only number on that bill was a classic exercise in customer no-service frustration. I had to call the office directly to get it handled, and am still not sure it has been. Rating their doctors is a 4 or 5. Rating their billing is a 1 or 0.
