Nice quaint hotel. Staff seemed pretty nice and they supplied us with the stuff we needed. Only bad thing is that rooms are dated and usually pretty small, but the one I was staying in was fairly large and I found it comfortable though. Meals seemed tasty but unfortunately they were not free. I would recommend this place if you were staying on Mackinac Island.

This is an older hotel. Very quaint and beautiful with a lovely view. Service has been excellent. We would stay here again.

The room was very quaint and clean with a magnificent view. The IH staff were very professional, warm and friendly! The breakfast had a wide variety of delicious foods. I would definitely stay here againin the future. Two thumbs up!

A generaly good experince when I stayed there a few months ago, however a few odd things happened in my room. I stayed in room number 401, for two nights on the Island. The service was amzing, don't get me wrong, but I often would come back to my room with a few things moved out of place. At first I assumed housekeeping had moved my wallet, ad changed around how my clothes where aranged umong other things. But then when I woke up the next morning the picures in the room were on the floor facing down. I asked the worker at the desk if they had known anything about this, he told me that they had been given a lot of recent reports of such things happening. There had also been reports of people hearing children's voices wispering their names late at night, but only in this room. The hotel itself it really nice and I would definitely stay here again, however the erie presence in this room makes me not want to go in this room again. I would not suggest this room to anyone not willing to go through the creepy expirences I did.

Rooms were small and outdated and were very dirty. Hotel staff was nice at first but was very rude at other times. Had an awful experience having to switch rooms because of it being filthy to another room which was just as dirty. Will never stay here again and recommend to others to not stay here.

I just had the worst experience with the Island House Hotel. I was looking online for a 4 night stay for two people and found the Stay and Play package for $740 total. My mom called to check this out and they told her that there was a better deal for $712. We decided that we'd call them back to be sure this is what we wanted to do (and thinking that it was four nights, like we told the lady we wanted), we confirmed our stay. When my mom checked her email for the confirmation, it said only three nights. She called back the lady and told her that we wanted four nights and the lady said that she misunderstood my mom, even though I was sitting right next to her and she was very specific about wanting to stay four nights. She asked again about the Stay and Play package that was online (it said online that I could make a reservation for this package!) and she said it didn't exist yet! To add another night it would have been about $250 more. Needless to say we cancelled our reservation and will be going somewhere else with better customer service. (If I could give them zero stars I would.)

I enjoyed the most delightful stay at the Island House this past weekend. Room#412 has remarkable views because it sits atop of the hotel and is very comfortable with lots of windows. Newly remodeled, this great room had 2 full baths, a very large masterbedroom, 2 full size sofas which pull out additional sleepers and 2 full trundle beds situated comfortably under the windows. It also had a mini bar and little refrigerator. It was magical, fresh and clean. We also dined at the restaurant 1852 and had excellent service and a delicious meal. Afterwards we enjoyed the very secluded and spacious hottub and indoor swimming pool followed by smores on the patio overlooking the lake. The staff is incredibly friendly and we are already booking to return next summer. HIGHLY recommend.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. They securely stored our touring bikes and gear and then let us check in a couple hours early. The room was clean. Not the biggest, but it is an older building. The free breakfast was good, sort of average diner fare, but portions were a bit small. Then again, our appetites may be a bit large from biking around 100 miles a day for a month. Swimming pool and hot tub were nice.
