Snobbery is alive and well, just a lot more underground.  Age has tempered my film snobbery with kindness — I assess the level of snobbery in those around me before blasting forth my passionate opinions.  No need to hurt anyone with my taste, especially when I'm convinced of its high merits.  Sometimes I think the word "snob" was invented to help people with minority opinions about art and culture cope with the discomfort of not feeling like they are part of the larger tribe.
