My first visit was for a graduation party for one of my best friends. This place is awesome! They sat our party (18 adults) within 20 mins and WE DID NOT have a reservation!! Most of the people in our group are major beer drinkers, so we all had at least one questions for the waiter. Ha! We ordered double appetizers and beer flights for each end of the table. My tops three beers would be... Citra (Single Hop Citra IPA- 7%), West End Amber- 5.2% and the West End Pale Ale- 6%. Actually most of us liked the Citra so we ended up sharing two pitchers of it! And it paired well with our appetizers (Monterey Bay Calamari, Duck Fat Popcorn and the Cheese Board) and my food. ( Veggie Sandwich) The only bad thing during my visit worked out in the end. Everyone in our group ordered meat items except for me and I asked for my salad to be on the side. (I wasn't being difficult, I just wanted to be able to eat my salad without the dressing running over onto my sandwich!!) Well, my sandwich never came until I brought it up when everyone else had their food. The waiter hurried to get my food re ordered and actually came out with it fast... right as he sat my food down in front of me he quickly realized it was all on one plate, which I said it was fine. I was VERY hungry and really didn't care anymore. Not a minute later, he brought me a free beer to apologize. So long story short, this place is booming, but when they mess up on an order they really go above and beyond to fix the wrong. When I head back to Santa Cruz I would go back here again for sure!

West End has a very unique look and my kids loved the booth with a built in chalk board. It is hard to find and a locals type of place but worth the hunt. The food was very fresh (not something I notice usually) and had some unique flavors. The pea, mint & ricotta puree on the chicken was excellent. Prices are good with casual atmosphere and some really good beers. Check it out for sure.
