The whisky steak is great. However with two of our family members gluten free (celiac disease), the staff were unaccommodating, bordering on hostile to their food restrictions. The prime rib is gluten free, but was all gone, so the only thing on the menu they could have was the salad bar. If you require gluten free food, the Drover is not the place to go.

Growing up my family and I frequently ate at the Drover. Tonight my boyfriend and I thought sper of the moment to eat there. When giving our name to the host he turs the page leaving about 8-10 blank spots on the current page. After a 35 min. Wait a couple is called before us. I went to check on this and the Host spoke to me as if I was a child with no knowledge of how a restaurant works. The first page was full now and all of those people were now before us. Needless to say because we did not show up in dress and suit we were discriminated for whatever reason. They did not earn our business tonight or ever again for our families.

Food allergies and service are absolutely dreadful! The drover is a very stuck up restaurant. I have a severe gluten allergy and asked if they would be able to cook my food on foil, instead of on the actual grill. They came back and said "no, we won't be able to do that". The only gluten free meat they have is the prime rib, when we tried to order it, they told us that they were sold out. The staff are incredibly stuck up and quite rude, if I could give them 0 stars, I would. If you have any food allergies or want good service and are thinking of going here, save yourself the trouble and don't.

After been given raving recommendations of the Drover, we decided it would be perfect for a special occasion. First impressions of the atmosphere were somewhat low, given the fact that nothing has been updated since 1973. But, that could definitely be part of the charm. No need to judge a book by its cover, right? Wrong. It was downhill from there. Prices were from what you'd expect at a Morton's, but food quality didn't even stack up to Shoney's or Applebee's! Unacceptable. Salad bar was simple (think iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing, boiled eggs and shredded cheddar), but still fresh. Staff was nice and friendly. No complaints about service. Our table ordered a ribeye, a two different sirloins, a grilled salmon, and lobster tail. General consensus was that of incredible buyers remorse. There are plenty of places in Omaha to order a $50 steak that will be worth the money!

Eleven of us dined at The Drover after hearing numerous rave reviews by locals. We had trouble getting reservation because you have to call when "Spike" is working. If you call in the morning like we did, you are told to call back after 5pm. Our entire group loved the charm of the decor (yes, 1970's, but charming). We all ordered various cuts of the "Whiskey" marinated steaks. The steaks tasted like USDA Choice beef, which is okay for chain restaurants, but I was hoping for USDA Prime quality. The salad bar complimented the steaks in that it consisted of a bowl of iceberg lettuce and the various toppings you would expect to put on iceberg lettuce. The service was descent, but not five-star quality. The bottom line is this: when I go to a local steakhouse I expect to pay a premium for perfectly seared USDA Prime Beef and receive knock your socks off service. At The Drover we paid a premium but were not satisfied with the quality of the beef.

Fantastic, classy western atmosphere with awesome food. We enjoy the filet and the whiskey sirloin. The salad bar is on the smaller side but really fresh and stocked. We'll return - hopefully soon.

I travel through Omaha often and found this place via a Google search. I really enjoyed my experience as a whole. From the big wooden doors, the relaxing atmosphere, the excellent service and of course the wonderful FOOD! I had the salad bar, the tasty bread and the Prime Rib w/ loaded baked potato. Everything came out excellent. I definitely recommend it to anyone who knows food and enjoys a restaurant with character. They have been in business for so long because of their obvious ability to make their customers happy and I will be returning to try another menu item on my next pass through Omaha!!!
