Fantastic, classy western atmosphere with awesome food. We enjoy the filet and the whiskey sirloin. The salad bar is on the smaller side but really fresh and stocked. We'll return - hopefully soon.

I travel through Omaha often and found this place via a Google search. I really enjoyed my experience as a whole. From the big wooden doors, the relaxing atmosphere, the excellent service and of course the wonderful FOOD! I had the salad bar, the tasty bread and the Prime Rib w/ loaded baked potato. Everything came out excellent. I definitely recommend it to anyone who knows food and enjoys a restaurant with character. They have been in business for so long because of their obvious ability to make their customers happy and I will be returning to try another menu item on my next pass through Omaha!!! The whiskey steak was fantastic, though very pricey. Restaurant has a nice western feel and sides were also very tasty.

After been given raving recommendations of the Drover, we decided it would be perfect for a special occasion. First impressions of the atmosphere were somewhat low, given the fact that nothing has been updated since 1973. But, that could definitely be part of the charm. No need to judge a book by its cover, right? Wrong. It was downhill from there. Prices were from what you'd expect at a Morton's, but food quality didn't even stack up to Shoney's or Applebee's! Unacceptable. Salad bar was simple (think iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing, boiled eggs and shredded cheddar), but still fresh. Staff was nice and friendly. No complaints about service. Our table ordered a ribeye, a two different sirloins, a grilled salmon, and lobster tail. General consensus was that of incredible buyers remorse. There are plenty of places in Omaha to order a $50 steak that will be worth the money!

First, the ambience is old inside with weird yellowish lights making everything 1970s ish. Not necessarily a problem if the food is good, but my eyes are still readjusting an hour later. Soup was decent but a tad spicy. Water refills were non-existent for 10 or 12 minutes then picked up where refills need to be. My "whiskey filet" was substandard. A fatty, unflavorful piece of meat that was undercooked. I ordered "medium-plus" after i asked the waiter how the kitchen usually cooks meat - he informed me they usually undercook - hence the medium plus (hoping for medium). Epic fail. Further, i think I'd prefer no marinade (next time) and would prefer a real filet without the supposed whiskey signature marinade. Not that it was bad but that it didn't live up to any of the recommendations. We didn't get dessert. The MacCallan 12 year on the rocks was filled to the rim - so a nice pour. But there are too many other steak places around for me to go back - even if someone else is paying the bill - seriously.

I tried this restaurant with my girlfriend knowing it would be high priced, but I wanted to try the food and see for myself what the commotion was about. Most of the negative reviews are right on target in my opinion: Overpriced food, indifferent and haughty staff. Go to any other steakhouse in Omaha (or in the country for that matter) and you'll get a side dish with your meal...not at the Drover, you have to pay extra on top of an already hugely overpriced meal. $40 is WAY out of the ballpark for an under-cooked filet (sent it back twice just to get a 'medium steak') and too salty (because of the Whiskey marinade). There's not much else to say except I'll never eat there again. I suspect the Drover is still in business because it's a popular business expense restaurant, but I certainly don't recommend it for family dinners, dates, parties or otherwise.

The restaurant shows they open till 10pm. But when I went they 9:10pm , they said they closed! I see a lot of people there, I think the waiter is just don't want be late for done with his work. Awsome place !
