I laughed slightly at reading all of these bitter reviews....this cruise is fantastic, the crew is fantastic, and I've never had any issue. The constant negativity about the tip bucket that the crew holds out at the end of the trip makes me SO angry as a waitress, and is the main reason I decided to write my own positive review for these poor people! They work for tips, just like anyone else in the service industry. They wait at the end of the cruise with a tip bucket as they say goodbye and wish you a great day. I don't see anything wrong with this, as they never actually pressure you to put any money in the tip jar at all. They simply hold it there in case anyone felt that - SERVING you drinks for two hours, putting on a narrative dialogue for two hours, and just in general making sure you're having a good time - was all worth maybe an extra buck or two for them to take home. I guess people will be people, and everyone always wants something to complain about. I would venture to say that these people who are writing such nasty things about nothing have probably never worked in customer service in their entire life. I just hope anyone who takes the time to read these reviews doesn't forget that a experience is what you make of it, and I certainly will not let the small tip jar they hold at the end of their trip stop me from coming back to experience this cruise over and over again.

During our Sunset Cruise, It felt like a group of friends had decided to throw together a sunset cruise to make extra money. Don’t get me wrong—my BF and I had a great time seeing great views around the south end of Clearwater Beach—but I truly think you need a very optimistic mindset here. There’s many ‘cheap’ touristy touches like the obligatory photo before you board (try to sell you later), frozen adult drinks (very sweet), sunset champagne toast, meh music during the return trip, small celebrity house sightings, and—I disliked most—holding out the tip jar once the boat docked. Luckily most of the time here is spent talking/hanging out with those you came with and that’s what made it memorable for me.

Just trying to find out information is an ABSOLUTE nightmare- the ONLY way I was able to find out WHAT TIME the tours take place is to "pretend" purchase a ticket on each and every tour and then not purchase them - that is the ONLY place on the web that I could find out ANY information as to when the boat leaves the dock. I purchased Groupons on Tuesday and wanted to go on the Friday Dolphin Tour and I have made well over 35 phones calls and all I get is an answering machine, to which is states it will NOT take reservations. They provide an email address, so I sent a message there - have not heard back. I believe they have called back twice, however, they call under a PRIVATE NUMBER and most any common sense American in the US has those number blocked; so I cannot answer the call but if I call back in 2 seconds I just get the answering machine AGAIN. The webmaster should be shot for NOT listing WHEN the Tours take place and IF you are going to advertise on Living Social and Groupon on a CONTINUAL basis - then those customers SHOULD be able to schedule a trip online like everyone else~ however, they will ONLY take so many COUPON CUSTOMERS per boat load they have a ratio of how many had to pay FULL RATE in order to allow so many DISCOUNT RATE customers on the boat ~ that's just NOT right! If you cannot afford to take the boat out filled with ALL coupon customers, then STOP running the coupons on a daily basis to get business. Some people are here on vacation and cannot work their schedules around YOUR this companies business plan and profit ratio. I am beside myself in frustration in trying to reach a human being by phone or email to schedule a ride - it is now Friday and I have no idea when I drive 50 miles to Tampa today whether we will be accepted or not - that is 100% unacceptable!

I had reserved this trip 2 of us. Despite being a clear sunny day, The Tropics Boat Tours cancelled their trip JUST because we were only 2 on the trip. The two neighboring boats left for sunset...but not these guys. Not my fault if they were not able to find enough business !! The lady on reception was rude and tried to close the shop on our face. We were told the manager will call or text us "right away"...but it is now a week since the incident without any follow-up. No where I have seen such horrific customer service...they kept us waiting for 30 minutes and did not tell us that the trip might be cancelled until the very last minute. I lost my money not only on this but also on parking and most importantly my time. I am filing a better business bureau complaint against The Tropics Boat Tours and will make sure no one in my family or friends EVER visit this place. Pathetic place...I am sorry I wasted my money and time on them.

It's a nice cruise - IF, you can ever make a reservation. They have a loopy answering system that asks you to hold on...but nobody ever answers the frickin phone! So aggravated - I should not have to call 10 times wait 4 -5 minutes then the machine says leave a message.. does no good to leave a message. Don't return calls. Call back - repeat. Call back repeat. This is NOT the first time I have been stuck in Boat Tropics answering machine hell - meanwhile my guests are pissed at me that I can't seem to make a simple reservation for them. I never have this issue with Capt. Memo Pirate Cruise - or Calapso Queen/ Starlight..... so that is it I am done. Let me know when you hire competent staff in the marina booth that don't rudely just ignore the phone. If your cruise is booked 100% - just answer the phone and say so. Over it - have been out of rack brochures for motel for over a month - must be nice to be so busy you just blow off potential customers. HOPE THE OWNER LADY READS THIS! Saturday 10-11-14 from 4pm to 6 pm not less then a dozen calls.

One Dolphin fin, boring half moon circle cruise, although we did slow down enough to watch a stranded boater and his family struggle to get off a sand bar after they missed low tide. I think we were in reverse more than forward! Don't purchase the wrist band unless you really know how to drink fast and get your moneys worth. Crew standing at the gangway at end off cruise shaking tip "BUCKET" was just obnoxious.

Very Disappointing. I purchased a coupon through Google Offers for a dolphin tour for myself, my boyfriend, and our friend visiting from out of town. I made a reservation to be sure we had a spot on Sunday afternoon. When I called a few hours beforehand with a question about parking, I got an old voicemail message saying they had high call volumes and to call back later. When we arrived for the tour, we were shocked to find out that the fuel line for the boat had been broken all weekend, and the lady said "we should have received a call." Well we didn't receive a call, an email, nothing!!! Isn't this what reservations are for? She also said she couldn't refund our coupon, google had to do it (fine). But what a letdown. We walked over to Little Toots tours and they were happy to book us for their next tour 45 min later, and gave us a discount too. We saw plenty of dolphins that day, but not because of Tropics Boat Tours.
