I live locally and never take any of my out of town guests here. I have been on it twice and to begin, the reservation staff is rude. They're almost always running deals on Groupon but you have to reserve like a week ahead of time cause they don't answer the phones and they also don't let you ride without reserving at least a day in advance. I went once with a friend that was visiting and although they only had 4 people waiting for the next ride (it was a weekday morning) she said she couldn't let us on because they had to leave room for any full price paying customers that may come to ride, and only so many groupon riders could go on one ride at a time. So groupon riders are treated like the minority. She never got to go on the ride while she was here. Went another time and in the 2 hours we were sitting up top in the scolding hot sun we only saw ONE dolphin about 30 feet away, not even close enough for a pic. What a waste of time, energy and money. I take everyone now to Hubbard's Dolphin Watch at John's Pass, way nicer staff, you get all kinds of deals, you can drop in last minute and get on the next boat, and you always see LOTS of dolphins, they even swim right next to the boat.

Had the opportunity to go on this cruise as part of a military appreciation event. Tropics Boat Tours was generous enough to donate the tour. I enjoyed the cruise and sunset views. Only got to see a couple dolphins, but then again living in Florida, I see them all the time, so that was no big deal. Overall, I would recommend this tour as part of any vacation to Clearwater.

The tour was outstanding. The ship captain made sure we saw several Dolphins and had a true dolphin spotting adventure. We will definitely be back. I absolutely loved it!

It's a nice cruise - IF, you can ever make a reservation. They have a loopy answering system that asks you to hold on...but nobody ever answers the frickin phone! So aggravated - I should not have to call 10 times wait 4 -5 minutes then the machine says leave a message.. does no good to leave a message. Don't return calls. Call back - repeat. Call back repeat. This is NOT the first time I have been stuck in Boat Tropics answering machine hell - meanwhile my guests are pissed at me that I can't seem to make a simple reservation for them. I never have this issue with Capt. Memo Pirate Cruise - or Calapso Queen/ Starlight..... so that is it I am done. Let me know when you hire competent staff in the marina booth that don't rudely just ignore the phone. If your cruise is booked 100% - just answer the phone and say so. Over it - have been out of rack brochures for motel for over a month - must be nice to be so busy you just blow off potential customers. HOPE THE OWNER LADY READS THIS! Saturday 10-11-14 from 4pm to 6 pm not less then a dozen calls.

I went on the Sunset Boat Tour with my Boyfriend on May 31, 2015 by using a Groupon. The cruise was great! The staff was friendly and energetic and made sure to make all the guests feel at home. ' The drinks were amazing! My Boyfriend said the Rum Runner was the best he had ever had. The drinks can be a bit pricey but its definitely worth the experience. I'm a smoker and thought it was nice that we were able to smoke on the upper level of the boat. The view of the sunset was really pretty and the boat ride out there is cool as the Staff provides you with local facts and info about the condos/mini-mansions and hotels you see on the coast of the beach. We did get to see a pack of dolphins (they guarantee you will see at least 1 dolphin) as we were making our way back after the sunset. It looked like it was going to rain but we were able to make it back a bit early and completely dodged the storm. While on the boat, we met another couple that had been on 4 cruises. They explained that during Halloween there's a costume contest and that we should take another cruise around that time. I had a great time and would love to go on another cruise from The Tropics Boat Tours.

My boyfriend and I didn't know what to expect but we had such a great time! The staff was super friendly and fun, the bathrooms were clean, and it was so relaxing. We're looking forward to doing a sunset cruise with them again!

During our Sunset Cruise, It felt like a group of friends had decided to throw together a sunset cruise to make extra money. Don’t get me wrong—my BF and I had a great time seeing great views around the south end of Clearwater Beach—but I truly think you need a very optimistic mindset here. There’s many ‘cheap’ touristy touches like the obligatory photo before you board (try to sell you later), frozen adult drinks (very sweet), sunset champagne toast, meh music during the return trip, small celebrity house sightings, and—I disliked most—holding out the tip jar once the boat docked. Luckily most of the time here is spent talking/hanging out with those you came with and that’s what made it memorable for me.
