He will be missed.
Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I've ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that. I know other people who've been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say "if you call Alan, it doesn't matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he's doing, he'll get back to you within a day".

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.

For a limited time, my friend Jeff Goins is giving a free eBook on how to build your audience called, Every Writer Needs a Tribe.

Now, this isn’t some short PDF “report” or white paper. It’s a full-out book that Jeff has never before released to the public. And he’s letting a handful of friends offer to their audiences for free.

Whether or not you think of yourself as a writer, this book will help you use writing to get your message out to the masses.

If you’ve felt like you have something to say but aren’t quite sure how to share it…

If social media intimidates you or technology overwhelms you…

...You’re going to love this book.

I am not a writer. But I do look for interesting people to follow online, whether on social media or via a blog. One exceptional person I started following is writer Jeff Goins and he just wrote a book called “The Art of Work”.  You can get Jeff’s book early (I believe it officially comes out later this month) for $6.99 for a limited-time, plus extra bonus materials (I read the book and it is very good!).

I was “introduced” to Jeff while doing research about email marketing.  I was reading a blog post on this subject and someone in the comments mentioned that they “really liked Jeff Goins newsletter…”. Several other people chimed in too and felt the same way, so I decided to take a look.  Yes, he has a wonderful and simple design for his website and newsletter but it was his writing that hooked me. I think anyone would enjoy his blog – he writes about finding your life’s work, writing, how to grow a following (a tribe) online, and about giving back.  If you are not familiar with him, I recommend checking out his blog at http://goinswriter.com/ and definitely get his new book! ;-)

(Note: there is a free book download in the blog post attached. This is a different book than the one mentioned in my comments. Both are fabulous! :-)
