Our office in Istanbul has been under siege. It is in the heart Taksim, an area in which a brutal police clampdown has been trying to end the peaceful protest over the planned destruction of the small, and historic, Gezi Park by Taksim Square. The protest has grown to involve tens of thousands of people and drawn the support of people from all over the world. ... http://www.greenpeace.org/new-zealand/en/blog/the-last-tree-or-the-final-straw/blog/45382/

After two years of sustained campaigning, 15,000 emails sent, a brand subverted, an ad campaign spoofed and lots of jumping around in shark costumes, the results are in and it’s a clean sweep for the sharks, turtles AND the baby tuna!!!

Now ALL tuna brands in Australasia have now committed to go FAD free! This is huge news for the future of our oceans.

Today Sealord did the right thing and committed to go 'FAD FREE' by 2014.

This win comes on the back of two years of sustained campaigning and will help to further reduce the amount of sea life mistakenly caught as bycatch when giant fishing nets are set around FADs.

On Tuesday morning we responded to the Government’s shady ‘Anadarko Amendment’ by putting out a joint statement of opposition signed by a small group of notable people and groups.

Then we put it online and invited more people to sign it, and the response has been like nothing we've ever seen!

We had more than 10,000 names in less than 24 hours and now, only three days later, the count has just gone past 20,000 http://goo.gl/lpWyO !!

That breaks all our records and the speed of the petition was so impressive on the first day that it was even mentioned in Parliament.

This is obviously something that New Zealanders are passionate about - protest at sea is part of our DNA. Simon Bridges and the Government will now be feeling very uncertain about their pro oil industry strategy, but let’s turn up the heat even more and go for 30,000 before the bill is voted in on Tuesday next week.

Please share the link on facebook now - 30% of the people who have signed have done so after seeing links in facebook - it REALLY works. Sign it here and share it on your wall: http://goo.gl/lpWyO

And a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has signed, shared, liked and tweeted - it's making a difference!
