Solomon Stevens, Co. B, 2 United States Colored Infantry.  I found this Civil War troop's gravestone poking out from under a pile a leaves on a Southampton County day trip.  Helping Hand Cemetery, Courtland.

Corpl George Baysmore of Company H, 36th United States Colored Infantry. Born in 1835, Bertie County, North Carolina, died in 1898, Hampton, Virginia. Serving with distinction in the Civil War, he was promoted to Corporal on May 26, 1864.  Husband to Esther Cherry, and father to Charles, George, Armisa, and Hattie. The picture on the right was taken on September 3, 2011. As of September 11, 2012, his grave in Mt. Calvary Cemetery is now completely covered with grass.
