Introduction
Welcome to the Google+ page for HeartValveSurgery.com!

Founded by Adam Pick, a former patient, in 2006, HeartValveSurgery.com is the world's largest community and educational resource for people needing valvular treatment.

Last year, over 1 million patients and caregivers visited this unique website which provides heart valve surgery resources including an online community, an interactive blog, a surgeon finder, a valve clinic directory, educational videos and more.

HeartValveSurgery.com's founder, Adam Pick, underwent double heart valve replacement surgery in 2005. As he navigated this physically and emotionally challenging experience, he discovered a need for resources and educational materials for other patients like himself. Adam wrote "The Patient's Guide To Heart Valve Surgery," a comprehensive guidebook that supports patients and caregivers throughout the entire process.

In addition to the book, Adam has created HeartValveSurgery.com, an online resource center and community for those affected by heart valve surgeries. In the past few years, the site has become a leading resource for patients and their families from diagnosis through surgery and life after their procedures.

At HeartValveSurgery.com, you'll find:
  • An interactive community of patients and caregivers like you. Share your experiences and get support!
  • The learning center, where you will find valuable resources about your diagnosis, treatment options, the procedure, the recovery period and more.
  • The surgeon finder, a database of more than 1500 patient-recommended surgeons that makes it easy to find, research and contact the best surgeon for you.

Physicians are researching "engineered tissue" valve replacements that are created from the cells of the person who needs a valve replacement. The goal is to create a valve of living, natural tissue that would grow and repair as the patient ages. Learn more here: http://ow.ly/xILHf
