Best ever bbq I've had. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Makes me want to move from Minneapolis to Austin.

The brisket was okay; my cut was a thick slice, lean and a bit on the dry side, although the end pieces were flavorful. The tangy BBQ sauce helped. The pulled pork: tasty, it was the best of the meats I tried. The sausage was not good, lacking in flavor despite the chunks of fat throughout. The jalapeno cheese grits is a winner! This is the best side dish from a BBQ place that I've ever had. The potato salad is similar to what you might find in the refrigerated deli case at your grocery store. Skip it and get a double portion of the grits. The housemade pickle slices and made-in-house bread were both terrific!

Awesome pulled pork sandwich and brisket sandwich. Nice flavorful meat. I was not a big fan of the sauce but like I said the meat is very flavorful so it didn't even need the sauce. I would recommend checking this place out.

Moist and delicious brisket. We requested the fatty cut. Good pork ribs too. They sell out fast so come earlier. We arrived at noon and they were out of pork shoulder and beef ribs. I recommend Micklethwait over Franklin's if you'd rather save 3-4 hours of waiting and still eat great bbq.

The frito pie is ridiculous good. They have homemade pickles and bread which are the bomb. The slaw and jalapeño cheese grits are also really good. Great experience and awesome food!

Delicious barbecue and totally awesome sides too. We had Mark from Micklethwait cater our wedding and it was perfect. So many people said it was the best wedding food they ever had.

Come here if you're hungry and don't want to wait like at some of the other hot barbecue joints in east Austin. I wouldn't say that this is the best BBQ you can get in Austin, but for the price and shear weight of their plates, I'd say it's one of the better quantity for quality you can get besides from Kerlin's.

Favorite BBQ joint. EVER. Sure sure, everyone has their favorites and go-to places. This is a MUST TRY! If you like BBQ...who am I kidding, everyone loves BBQ! It's the best brisket that I've had to this date. I've been to plenty of BBQ joints that are all famous and advertise as the best but Micklethwait dominates by far. I'll be bringing everyone that ever visits me in Austin here because this is truly how BBQ should be. The fat on the's pretty much meat candy. Delicious and drool worthy meat candy. What really sets Micklethwait apart from other BBQ joints is that they offer fresh, homemade bread. None of the bimbo, wonderbread, or sunbeam grossness. REAL bread. Parking is squished so carpool.
