It has been awhile since we have shared any new photos, but had come across this photo while preparing for the recent Gifts of Nature art fair. This was taken in front of our office in Arizona. This owl (we are guessing it was a male because it was smaller) spent a lot of time in January in the trees in front of my office windows. This was taken just as the sun was setting and he was getting ready for his nightly hunt.

What would you name the photo?

Usery Mountain Regional Park posted on it's page a picture of an owl's nest. I went out Sunday and found it, and this evening carried the heavy gear in to photograph it. It was windy and the owls were not active at all. How many owls can you see?

I found this rough legged hawk one morning in Western Nebraska in feasting on a ring necked pheasant. The image was processed in Lightroom, then finished using +Nik Photography's Viveza and ColorEfx programs.

I love to take pictures of wild animals, and pride myself on the fact that I only present pictures of wild animals on the website. Mr. Chris Palmer helped to open my eyes a little further with his book, "Shooting in the Wild" and led to me adding a large discussion in some of my classes about ethical photography and videography. He has since produced the video below. Take time to watch it, it may make you question that great wildlife shot in the future and ask was it Wild?

Although not likely going to be the best wildflower season this year, please join us out at Usery Park on Saturday.
Join Dori as she teaches different tips and techniques for photographing spring wildflowers. She will be leading a 1 1/2 class/walk at the Nature Center. The cost? Free with paid admission to the Park, which is only $6 per car load.

This is an Asiatic Elephant and calf taken at a salt lick in Khao Yai National Park. Edit in Lightroom and Nik's ColorEfex 4. The calf was estimated to be about 2 months old.

Just wanted to introduce myself and share an image I recently worked on. My name is Steven and my wife and I are working on getting our images out to the world, so I hope you enjoy and will check out our website. We would love the feedback. This is an image of the Longhouse Ruins in Mesa Verde, NP. It was processed in Lightroom, then converted to Black and White in Nik's SilverEfx Pro. I applied a sepia tone and vignetting to enhance the feeling of age.
