Getting rid of malaria...just the tip of a scary slippery iceberg.

Yes we should and to borrow a very appropriate quote "With great power comes great responsibility".
We now have the power to easily alter DNA. It could eliminate disease. It could get really out of hand.

Wet Memorial weekend. Try to stay dry and be extra careful if you are going to the beach this weekend. Remember if you wade through waist deep water your phone and wallet get wet...if you drive into axle deep water you get a new car payment every month.

This is experimental 1 minute visible satellite imagery across Texas showing fine detail of the dryline in West Texas and storms developing in Southeast Texas.  Note the different levels of motion - high clouds moving east...dryline sloshing...cumulus developing with heating...and what may be gravity wave moving east into the western Hill Country.

Bright Green Geminid Meteor Over Topaz Lake
This was captured during the Geminid meteor shower last night.  The Geminid meteor shower produces a lot of meteors, but not as many fireballs as the Perseid meteor shower.  This is a particularly bright one.

This place has gone downhill. This used to be our go to place. Last two times, May and July 4th the bbq was tasteless. Brisket bone dry and no smoke flavor. Ribs were tender but again no bbq flavor, almost like they were boiled then had sauce put on. Sausage was bland... They good items were the green beans and potato casserole that was yummy. After years of visiting this establishment we are done here. A real shame that they put so little effort into their bbq.

Wow, Chicken Alfredo Pizza is delicious. Loaded with toppings and cheese blend is just wonderfully gooey! Crust is crispy and cheese on the edges is golden and bubbly. Staff is super attentive at lunch. This is a hidden gem for pizza. Pasta next time we come.

Great Burgers. Good selection of beer. Lobster rolls were fantastic. Carbonara was dull.

Hummm...very good fries and a decent burger. Ordered the BBQ Burger with cheddar...had some very good caramelized onions and a pile of deliciously melted cheese. Good hearty bun with the fixings. It was missing the BBQ sauce though. Outside of the burger could have used more browning/crust and a little more seasoning. Moist inside and was medium well. Fries were thick...crisp with enough salt and moist and soft inside...very good fries. I think I will give them a second try to see if I just caught an off burger.

Pulled Pork sandwich is outfreakingstanding! Tangy, tender loaded with pork on good bread. Cuban mix is good and is stacked with meat. Steak and cheese sandwich has well seasoned diced steak.

Friendliest staff I have ever had a Popeye's. They even came out into the dining area to see if anyone needed anything. Fresh hot and spicy! Greeted new customers and let them look over the menu before asking for their order. Just what every Popeye's should be like.

I had the burger and two vegetable sides, turnip greens and green beans. The burger was a little juicy but in desperate need of seasoning. It did have a good crust on it. The vegetables were lackluster at best completely devoid of seasoning. And the ice tea was lacking in tea flavor as well. As much as I hate to say it Jack in the Box or McDonalds has a better meal. A couple of good things to know, the staff was attentive and helpful and the decor World War 2 memorabilia was well done and interesting to enjoy.
