This is cool!  Great visualization/observation system for meteors and fireballs

Bright Green Geminid Meteor Over Topaz Lake
This was captured during the Geminid meteor shower last night.  The Geminid meteor shower produces a lot of meteors, but not as many fireballs as the Perseid meteor shower.  This is a particularly bright one.

Great segment on NPR last night and here's the behind the scenes look.  That has to be a shock to the system but an honor.  Well done Kai.
The White House called Tuesday with an offer.

I had the burger and two vegetable sides, turnip greens and green beans. The burger was a little juicy but in desperate need of seasoning. It did have a good crust on it. The vegetables were lackluster at best completely devoid of seasoning. And the ice tea was lacking in tea flavor as well. As much as I hate to say it Jack in the Box or McDonalds has a better meal. A couple of good things to know, the staff was attentive and helpful and the decor World War 2 memorabilia was well done and interesting to enjoy.

Super tender moist Brisket. Ribs were tender and juicy inside and Okey almost jerky like on the outside. Neither is heavily seasoned. very tasty. Sides: green beans were boring...but mustard greens were spicy with a hint of sweet. Wish I had tried the fried cabbage and macaroni and cheese. Saw a sign for Sunday ox tail dinner.

Good spinach enchiladas, tasty beans and very flavorful rice. The guacamole was bland but the house salsa had a good kick to it. 4 of us ate for $37.

Good Thai...awesome Tom Ka Gai! Green curry salmon was very tasty - I selected medium heat level and it was nice and warm not sweating hot. My daughter ordered the curry pineapple rice and she really liked it. It had a few small shrimp in it that were perfectly cooked. The two best dishes we had were ...chicken massaman curry bitch was loaded with spices and had a beep complex flavor, and the hands down winner was the Tom Kha Gai. It was rich and creamy and loaded with vegetables . I could live on that for weeks. We had two dishes that were a little disappointing. The first was an appetizer of fried tofu with a sweet dipping sauce. The tofu needed seasoning. And the second dish was an entree and it was the chicken and vegetables with peanut sauce , it was a little bland and had too much sauce which was a little on the sweet side. Order the tom Kha gai and enjoy!

Very good restaurant. My wife and I had dinner on 9/13/14 and really enjoyed ourselves. We mixed up the menu choices because we wanted to try so many dishes. Little gems salad with fried anchovies and the best marinated zucchini, roasted fennel soup, burata, carbonara, wilted kale, goat cheese polenta, sauteed mushrooms, tiramisu, and drinks. The standouts: carbonara, polenta, tiramisu, and the pear and rosemary cocktail. Nothing was bad. We both agreed the soup was a little strong on the chick broth, and the kale was spicier than expected (I really liked it but it was too spicy for my wife). I have never had carbonara made with pig jowls...I have really missed out. Goat cheese polenta could drive up the price of polenta and cause a run on goat cheese. Their tiramisu is delish and their espresso gives it the kick you want from a tiramisu. Good selection of whiskey, fairly priced...and a few nice ports. I would like to try a few of the other cocktails but I had to drive and they mix a great drink.. the Tito's pear rosemary was scary good. Service was excellent, helpful and relaxed. Made us feel comfortable and welcome. The place got a little rocous and loud in between 3 big tables, which cut down on the romantic ambience. They also had outdoor seating but given the mosquito plauge of the last week everyone was indoors. Call ahead for reservations or use Open Table. We are looking forward to our next visit (and my wife is driving for that one).

Pros: Great views and helpful staff. Seared scallops had a delicious crust and still tender not overcooked and the sherry cream sauce was good on the pasta. Needed a little more salt. Fish and chips the halibut version were crispy and very well seasoned, fries tasted like potatoes with a good crisp texture. Cons: Clam chowder had a slightly moldy taste but was loaded with clams and potatoes. Stuffed halibut was okay, the filling was tasty but the parmesan crust again needed more seasoning. The halibut was perfectly cooked tender and flakey. Mashed potatoes underneath needed salt and seasoning. Tarter sauce for the fish and chips was bland. Portions were good and fairly priced. Not sure I would recommend it as a must go in Lincoln City.
