Lahore-Islamabad Motorway being rehabilitated, NA informed 
National Assembly was informed today that Lahore-Islamabad Motorway was being completely rehabilitated by the FWO on Built, Operate and Transfer basis. This was stated by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad while responding to a calling attention notice. He said during the rehabilitation work, fence along the Motorway was damaged at some places. He assured as soon as the Motorway is rehabilitated, a new fence will be erected.

Pakistan reaffirms commitment to UN peacekeeping missions
Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to United Nations peacekeeping operation. This was stated by Pakistan's permanent representative at UN Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi while addressing the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations. She said that safety and security of peacekeepers must continue to be an overriding priority. Reaffirming its commitment to UN peacekeeping operations, Pakistan told a UN panel that their success hinged on having a robust political track that led to political solutions in post-conflict areas. At the same time, Ambassador stressed the need for strengthening UN's mediation and conflict prevention capabilities to complement peacekeeping. She said that distinction between peacekeeping and peace enforcement must be maintained.

Quadrilateral meeting on Afghan peace process today.
The quadrilateral group meets in Kabul today to discuss resumption of reconciliation process in Afghanistan. In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Nafees Zakaria said representatives from Pakistan, Afghanistan, the United States and China will participate in the meeting. Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry will represent Pakistan in the meeting.
