Mark Stone is a life-long North Carolina performing musician who has performed and recorded his unique acoustic musical style from the coast to the Appalachian Mountains. Performing for private groups, events, and master classes at several North Carolina universities, Mark has enhanced musical appreciation across diverse cultural styles, including Ambient, Acoustic Folk, Native American, Classical, and Renaissance music.
Beginning and mastering several musical instruments since age 5, Mark Stone pursued a classical musical education at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. His continued musical expansion into other cultural styles followed many modern musical icons, such as Michael Hedges, Doug Smith, Windham Hill artists, and R. Carlos Nakai through personal teaching and master classes. Mark Stone continues to evolve his personal musical style by integrating different cultural elements into his performances, including Middle-Eastern melodies & percussion, Oriental modal compositions, and other unique and interesting musical forms.
Mark Stone has personally recorded six full musical works in CD form. Each of these works has been culturally themed and professionally produced, using authentic instruments in non-traditional ways. In 2010, Mark began a large-scale, multi-cultural musical work that partners additional global musicians. This new musical project is scheduled for public release in 2012.
Mark Stone performs his unique original and selected cover music in intimate venues, coffee houses, and for private and commercial groups & events. In his solo performances, Mark utilizes multiple instruments, including guitars, flutes, and percussion instruments, and he plays these instruments with accompanying electronic (also original) music. Mark’s performances can be scaled for small rooms to larger venues.
